you like tigers? i volunteer at the zoo as part of my research mentorship and help take care of the tigers. their names are chaka and shera and they have very smelly shit which i clean every time i go there. and they like to poop in their water bowls. silly kitties. shera is nice but chaka looks at me like she wants to eat me. it's a bit uncomfortable sometimes. they're really cute when it's feeding time. they roll over with their bellies up and try to look as precious and hungry as possible.

the rhinos kick the most ass of all. here's alfred, one of the rhinos from my zoo. he has exceptional manners and enjoys using the bathroom with discretion. i'll be giving him lots of attention and petting him, but when he has to go to the bathroom, he'll go to the other side of his paddock and do his business, then come back. and he loves to play by himself with this huge hard plastic ball. it's precious.

and here are zeke and april, who are going to be the topics of my research proposal. zeke is the stockier one on the right and a major spaz. april is the more delicate one. she's really amazingly cute. and she's very cuddly.

and here are the elephants. they're not on my string, but they're still hilarious all the same. monica is the big one on the right. the other one is lisa. monica is the big boss elephant. she shoves poor lisa around all the time. once we rolled pumpkins into the field for them, monica hogged both of them and ate lisa's right in front of her face. so lisa just went placidly and started eating bark off a tree.

Anyway, I found this particular specie of Monkey to be pretty funny (in behavior)
*EDIT* I found it weird that I'm named after Tariq ibn Ziyad, who fought King Roderick in Spain....the weird part is that my best friend is named Roderick.

Is the zoo you volunteer at an "ethical" zoo though? By that I mean does it exist primarily for profit, (Grrrr) or for animal welfare and popular education? (Yay)
