Does this really surprise you? I'm sure it occurs in Europe too, but it's been common rhetoric among some of the American right-wing to equate socialism with nearly everything bad in the past- some bozo (read "CONSTITUTIONALIST" in his web address, it's usually associated with the far-right in the states) with a crappy tripod site he probably hasn't updated in years shouldn't be taken seriously.
Generally these guys will associate everything they consider to be 'left'- liberals, progressives, socialists, communists, etc. in a big bad camp along with fascists and Nazis because of some perception that they are all 'authoritarian' and therefore opposed to the liberties of the States. For these kinds of Americans this means that people like Hillary and Bill Clinton, Nanci Pelosi, and more recently Obama are in a zany socialist conspiracy plot to destroy America, as Hitler, Stalin, and others have attempted to do before.
On wikipedia there used to be a problem with some of these guys trying to put National Socialism and Fascism under the "Socialism" infobox because they said it was the same thing. A fellow (from the US, again) was spearheading this from a crappy site of his, which had the familiar bits in the right-wing here, including an ugly banner with "National Socialism- Hitler " "Marxian Socialism - Stalin and Mao" and "Democratic Socialism - *Insert US Democratic Party politician here*". Wikipedia chased him out, upon which added to the usual tirades about Wikipedia being a 'liberal' site.
Get used to seeing idiots on the internet, you'll see plenty of them. I'm sure that plenty of people act like you when they see us 'loonies' posting what we do here.
(BTW, I think this belongs in websites or politics, don't see what anti-fa has to do with this)
