Okay. So, every Wednesday I got to this Womans Work Group thing. (My best friend jokes that it's a radical feminist group and I should bring an extra bra to burn. lol.) I told my advisor that my original dream career was to be a Veterinary Nurse. But I gave it up due to lack of experience and being knocked back by my local agricultural college.
She thinks I should try again and apply for the Animal Care course.
Now, my new dream was to become a Photographer..But she did get me thinking. I had wanted to be a Vet Nurse longer than I wanted to be a Photographer. I AM passionate about animal welfare...
What do you guys think? Should I stick with my Photography? Or should I get the experience I need and re-apply for that Animal Care course?

In this digital age there be more opportunities for a Vet Nurse?
Why can't you do both? I would pick the veterinary nurse if I had to make the choice.
Go for the vet nurse thing. You can study/practice your photography without a degree in it

Vet nurse seems more practical as something to make a living off of. Photography is a great hobby but isn't going to be as useful.
I would recommend Vet Nurse
Yes, we want to make your wife a radical feminist lesbian, we want to forcibly gay marry you to a leatherclad bear, we want to send your kids into white slavery at the court of a black communist dictator, we want to paint your church red with the blood of christian babies, we want to set fire to your ikea and your SUV, we want to rape your labrador with the broken pieces of your white picketed fence.
We want to wage nuclear war on the nuclear family.
why? because we are pinko freedom hating commienazi atheist bastards, its just what we do.

Have you worked/volunteered at a clinic before? They always need volunteers around here, maybe you should go in and see how it's like.
Unless you want to shoot almost nothing but weddings or work in the mall for minimum wage, I'd go with veterinary nurse courses.
Signed,
Someone who made an attempt at living off of photography and who has several vet tech friends.
I hate weddings, so my personal attempt was with product/commercial photography.

Re-apply for animal care. I think that it'll be more fulfilling. If its been your dream and you've pursued it before, and are thinking of doing it again, it must be really important for you. It might be more difficult, but the hardest part of every journey is deciding to go.
“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?” Charles Bukowski, Factotum

vet nurse is a better idea. you can do photography while you study as an animal nurse. you can't do the other way around.
Animal nurses should have something close to stable employment and a union while photographers have some of the worst job security overall.
The friends I have in media jobs are always overworked for shit pay.
Looks like we're pretty divided on the matter. The choice is up to you in the end, kitsune, sorry we couldn't be of any help.
Actually..You guys HAVE been a big help..Alright! My local zoo is always looking for volounteers..I'll work there for a fair few hours a wekk and in the summer, I'll re-apply for Animal Care!

Glad to hear game girl! Always follow your dream.
Good choice!
I was just going to echo the rest that you should do both. Apply for the vet job and shoot photography on the side.
Glad to hear that you're going for it. Good luck!

If we have no business with the construction of the future or with organizing it for all time, there can still be no doubt about the task confronting us at present: the ruthless criticism of the existing order, ruthless in that it will shrink neither from its own discoveries, nor from conflict with the powers that be.
