BNP leader Griffin's UCC visit cancelled
    Wednesday, February 08, 2012 - 08:58 AM

A scheduled visit to University College Cork by the leader of the British National Party Nick Griffin has been cancelled.

His invitation was withdrawn over the potential threat it posed to the safety and welfare of the students and the general public.

Last September, an invite issued to Mr Griffin to speak at Trinity College in Dublin was also withdrawn for similar reasons.

Meanwhile, renowned human rights lawyer and former international cricketer Imran Khan is in Cork today as part of a campaign against facism organised by students at UCC.

Mr Khan will be discussing the case of Stephen Lawrence, a black teenager murdered by racist thugs in London in 1993.

Somebody needs to allow Prick Griffin to debate, so he can be humiliated and intellectually obliterated.

Racism and Fascism should never be given a platform, even if it is only to rip it apart politically.
