    Default I'm sad

I feel like the RevLeft that has taught me so much in the last ten years is now gone and has been replaced with something else entirely. R.I.P.

Thats how i feel about the squat movement, but not only can i see that the kids just getting into it disagree its also what i heard the generation above me say when i came into it.

Maybe it fulfilled its purpose for you personaly but thats just how live goes I guess

I guess it just doesn't seem as much of a community as it used to be. There really was at one point a sort of relatively bottom-up power structure that has been exponentially inverted. RevLeft has become something in and of itself, and control of it seems like a worthwhile pursuit. That's why the CC got out of control, that's why it got shut down, that's why being an admin makes you disproportionally liable to be banned. I still see the forum's main function as being an educational resource, but its capacity for such has been compromised significantly.

But, to paraphrase NewLeft, shit happens, and that topic of discussion isn't going anywhere. I just wish I had an easy answer to these problems that I see, but the problem now is that I can't muster up the motivation to try to find one.

I think the only people who actively seek the "power" that exists on revleft (which is, the power to delete things, big deal) are people who don't have much going on as far as real life political activity.

There are definitely people on revleft who view this website as an expression of political activism, and they think that posting on here is in some way contributing to a revolutionary movement.

DNZ and his inability to answer questions pertaining to real life political activity He ignored that question at least 7 times in a thread recently.
I saw millions of people working.
Not for themselves but for someone else.
I saw millions of people doing.
Not what they themselves want to do.
But what someone else wants them to do.

As ridiculous as this is going to sound (and keep in mind this is just my perception, I'm only one guy talking over here), there are actually more people on this site who are politically active offline than when I first joined. Yeah, there's always going to be one or two people who see posting online as some sort of political activity, but this is the internet. Some of that has to be chalked up to geography. You can't exactly expect a 17 year old kid in East Nowheresville, South Dakota to have access to a vibrant local political scene. The end result of that is that various fora around the web wind up being her only outlet.

Anyway, that's all off topic. To that end, if you're not satisfied with the content here, write better posts, lol.
O, why should wrath be mute, and fury dumb?
I am no baby, I, that with base prayers
I should repent the evils I have done:
Ten thousand worse than ever yet I did
    Would I perform, if I might have my will;
If one good deed in all my life I did,
I do repent it from my very soul.

I mean, yeah, it actually really is a shame that the people who run this website are more concerned about maintaining their little positions of internet power (lol!} then in actually trying to make this a welcoming and laid back place where young people can experiment and learn and discuss. But as others have said, I guess thats just the way shit goes, and theres obviously nothing that anyone can do to change it, so... it is what it is.

I'm not acting like this because of a poophead. I just disagreed with what nine said. I don't believe you stopped disagreeing with certain positions just because you became a global mod. That doesn't make much sense.

:shrugs: every time someone criticizes what are obviously shitty qualities of the admin revleft brigade you spring out as the most loyal defendant and as a condenscending poophead. you aren't the only one of the global mods that does this. i just ask myself why do you feel defending what are obviously unpopular measures. its not like u get paid or are a badmin shit
