I haven't watched either movie or read the book, but I know a bit about them, and I could tell that the American version screwed some things up to make it more appealing to an audience. That's just what the American film industry does.

In general, I hate how movies with a strong female lead are always objectifying. That's why I liked the movie Hanna.

You might enjoy the Swedish films - they are long but really good. The female lead isn't objectified in the film (she is by male characters in the film, but that's all a part of the plot). Sometimes it's quite intense but really well made and suspenseful overall.

I didn't see the American remakes and don't plan to, they looked like shit anyway.

If we have no business with the construction of the future or with organizing it for all time, there can still be no doubt about the task confronting us at present: the ruthless criticism of the existing order, ruthless in that it will shrink neither from its own discoveries, nor from conflict with the powers that be.

Dissapointing, i really like fincher and i had better hopes for this. One should think that esp a director of his calibre could have told the studio to go fuck their selves, i mean if a so non-hollywood film as driver can be made with a big budget by a still largly unknown foreigner just because gosling (the lead) stuck to his guns what the fuck happend here?
Maybe they should have given the job to the driver director instead, or to the one of hanna or let the right one in. This films clearly needed a gritty swedish touch.

Thanks for the link. Gonna have to read this more in-depth and then perhaps go see the movie when it comes out over here. I read the book in 2010 and it will be interesting to compare.
