Default Tragic racist woman on tram in London.

Dunno if it's been posted elsewhere on RevLeft, but I thought I'd post this video, which has gone viral and is causing a stir in the UK. It's tragic on many levels.

Urge to emmigrate so I don't have to share her "British country".

I like when the guy in the back gets up all gangsta and then his friends give him consolation.

The woman was likely drunk and, as people who know her have reported, was in the midst of some sort of a breakdown. Good on those on the bus who intervened and told her to stfu. But we should object to it being a matter for the police, which is what it has become.

    I don't think that's what he meant.

Yes, it's objectionable that there is no other system in place to deal progressively with someone this racist and whom displays such aggressive, racist anti-social behaviour.

But I kind of feel that it's very easy to just blame drink, drugs or mental health as mitigating factors. Whether one or all of those things are a contributing factor to her behaviour it does not suddenly absolve her. She clearly believed the things she was saying. She wasn't hallucinating or having a psychotic episode and alcohol and drugs don't create racist thoughts, they give confidence to air them publicly on a tram. When all is said and done she was pretty lucid if not terribly inarticulate, but when are white nationalists ever.

It's interesting that when you see a black man react to a racist comment the first thing that popped into your head was Gangsta.

anyway on the woman don't blame the individual blame the causes

It's so hard to be tolerant of another's point of view when that point of view stirs muderous rage in you...ironically, and sadly, I sometimes feel the best place for the overtly racist and bigoted is a con camp of some sort* (would never genuinely endorse that, just the level of anger these fuckers bring out in me).

I'm just surprised that it took so long for other people to try and tell her to shut up - And then when they did it was initially about her bad language (In the US she would probably got away with the sentiment but the "fucks" in front of her kid would probably cause her to loose custody). That, shouting her down, would have been one alternative to going to the police (which I am inferring from the other posts, maybe the police got involved without anyone calling them in). It would have demonstrated how isolated these attitudes were and it would have changed the nature of this youtube from "look how racist this person is" to "laugh your ass off as this bigot gets told off". And it would have given other racists second thoughts about how receptive people might be to their ideas.

This! There's always some explanation for racist tirades or behavior - after the person get's slapped or fired for it. Poor Don Imus, cries the media, after 30 years of making bigoted jokes and getting paid for it, the time he got in trouble, he didn't know what he was saying! If she was a politician she'd go on TV and say, "I am deeply sorry if you were offended by the things that I said or my attempts to have you all deported - may I suggest moving to another country where your presence won't cause people to lash out at you like that".

What's interesting is that some guy here advocated violence against her (a drugged-out woman with a child!) and no one reacted.
    Reading that made me sick.

So she was on drugs then? That was my initial thought. Wanting to use violence against her is probably a legitimate reaction to someone with such reprehensible views. Whether actually doing it is a legitimate response is another thing. I do think that if her child hadn't been with there, the situation would have ended very differently for her.

Yes the police should be involved, but not for her being a bigot. The police should be involved for her public drunkenness and most of all, carting her kid around while she was drunk.

She doesn't look like she's drunk to me, she looks and sounds like she's on drugs.

I'd be lying if I said I was terribly upset by that video. It's just the rantings of an ignorant/intoxicated individual.

Why are people here assuming she was drunk/on drugs...

From what I can see, she just seems like your average bigot
