Alabama Republicans passed a Nazi Immigration Bill that has turned the state into a regional capital of xenophobia. - I happen to live near the state line.
Because of this law, a German Mercedes Executive was arrested for not having his passport on him during a traffic stop.
Mercedes opened its first American manufacturing plant in Vance, Alabama in 1993.
The State of Missouri is now offering Mercedes tax incentives and has said to be the "show me state" instead of the "show me your papers state." They're hoping that Mercedes will create new jobs in Missouri instead of the Ku Klux Klan State.

I think international law says you are required to have your passport on you at all times while in a foreign country. Would have to check that though, pretty sure I saw it mentioned in my passport.
