A friend of mine occasionally wrote for this paper, mostly criticizing the articles their contributors publish. Needless to say, after the editors decided to publish this disgrace to journalism, she won't be taking any part in the paper any longer. The sad thing is, this paper is run almost exclusively by students.
Anyways, more on the topic, does anyone actually believe this issue (LGBT adoption) should be given space in the media?

Anti-LGBT people need to be called out on their bullshit at every turn, they are fighting to preserve the status quo, so ignoring issues like gay adoption only serves to further their agenda
That is such bullshit. Did my mother "experiment" on my by divorcing my father and moving in with her mother, effectively raising me with two same-sex "parents?"
If we follow this joker's logic to it's natural conclusion, we'd have to make divorce illegal for couples with underage children.
Imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever, saying:
"I KNOW YOU FEEL UPSET RE STAMPING, BUT THAT'S DIFFERENT FROM STRUCTURAL OPPRESSION"
There are a ton of assholes out there, who would love to see divorce illegal under any circumstance
Of course. Religious and social reactionaries want to argue that LGBT people should not have the right to be adoptive parents, and that backwardness needs to be challenged.
"I have declared war on the rich who prosper on our poverty, the politicians who lie to us with smiling faces, and all the mindless, heartless robots who protect them and their property." - Assata Shakur
People against same-sex adoption really need to take their fingers out of their arses! If every country allowed same-sex adoption, think of how many children would have homes and families! I can tell you now that I'd rather have gay parents than no parents at all.
"I have no country to fight for. My country is the Earth. I am a citizen of the world." - Eugene Debs
This article really promotes the idea that the only possible stable environment for a child is with a married mother and father, which is bullshit. A child needs stability and love, whether that be from biological parent(s), adoptive parent(s), grandparents, etc. Children can do well in all kinds of family situations, and actually the factor that most influences a child's life chances is social class.
One of the points made in the article, that LGBT people are more likely to suffer from substance abuse or poor mental health is missing the point. The reason LGBT people tend to have poorer mental health is because of the kind of discriminatory and heteronormative beliefs that this article is perpetuating.
"Her development, her freedom, her independence must come from and through herself. First, by asserting herself as a personality, and not as a sex commodity. Second, by refusing the right to anyone over her body; by refusing to bear children unless she wants them; by refusing to become a servant to God, the State, society, the husband, the family, etc. ... by freeing herself from the fear of public opinion and public condemnation. Only that, and not the ballot, will set woman free, will make her a force hitherto unknown in the world, a force for real love, for peace, for harmony; a force of divine fire, of life-giving; a creator of free men and women."~ Emma Goldman

After the abolition of capitalism, there would hardly be anybody giving their babies up anyway
I always like articles like this, because by laying their cards on the table right away and proclaiming the heterosexual two-parent nuclear family to be the natural, universal and eternal form of human kinship, they make it entirely clear that they haven't the slightest clue what they're talking about, haven't once glanced at a sociological or anthropological text on the matter, or, hell, even read a book written before 1950, so you can reject the whole thing without having to soil your eyes reading more than a few lines of it.
It's a serious cog in the works, isn't it? "The heterosexual two-parent nuclear family is necessary to the development of emotional healthy children, therefore we're going to raise these kids in an orphanage."![]()
