    Default Academic Takes On Occupy?

I've found a limited number of academic articles (well really blog posts) on Occupy. Do you know of any? The publication cycle for journals is so ill suited to documenting events in anything close to a satisfactory frame of time. I've read quite a bit of op-ed style pieces written by academics. I'm looking for stuff that, while perhaps not exclusively addressing their own discipline, is written in a scholarly, rather than consciously popular, language. Any examples would be most welcome. I'll throw a few I've found down below.

You may want to look on Louis Proyect's blog. He mentions, then dissects liberal and conservative academic's take on the #Occupy movement. To be honest, I don't think you are missing much though. Academicia appear just as clueless about the movement as do other areas of the ruling class.

As far as "name" academics, check out Cornel West and Slavoj Zizek.

The nest take on the movement from an academic is this article from David Micheal Green at Hofstra. Very good article, IMHO.

I would not expect much from academic journals.

To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget

If the "Communism a New Beginning" videos are ever posted online, OWS was a reoccurring theme at that conference.

You may want to hunt around here. Andrew Kliman and various people at CCNY are connected w/these groups, as I understand.

Didn't (doesn't?) Platypus support US intervention in Afghanistan?

I don't think very highly of Platypus but they do seem like an academic Marxist group which may have been close to what the OP was looking for. I do get useful info from sources I disagree with.

They certainly are an academic marxist group.

    And probably future neo-cons.

I actually don't know if its true they support intervention, but I know I dislike them for some reason, and I think that is why.
