This is legal in Japan.

Activists took video of this practice.

Wasn't this in Revelations?

"8. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;"

But anyway, that's pretty disgusting..what do they use it besides food? Can you use it's blubber for lamp oil or something?

That is foul and depraved...

what do they use it besides food?
I don't even think they eat it; if they do it's probably a very expensive luxary food or something... I would have thought they are stuffed, or parts of them used to make "natural" medicines or other more fiendish schemes... Just like the ivory trade, this must stop.

Oh dear God....This is just sick, but then again Japans main source of food comes from the ocean(Duh) and I think this isn't a luxury food at all.I think this is something they eat everyday.Trust me they eat alot of weird stuff in Japan.

The only people allowed to complain about this are Vegans and Vegetarians. It bothers me that some people freak out at the murder of dolphins and cute animals, but gladly eat tuna, cows, and chicken (and a variety of other animals just as worthy of this earth and dolphins) and willingly kill 'pests' like insects.

Vegans and vegetarians I can't complain about, because they refrain from eating animals in general, if possible. I hope you all understand what I'm getting at here. For a 'moral' perspective. You should be no more or less grossed out at that scene as you would if the dolphin was replaces by a fish.

I'm not a vegan, or vegetarian. I do believe that there is a humane way for slaughtering (an oxymoron no doubt).

What if the dolphins, chicken, whatever, were replaced with humans. Would you be grossed out at that scene? (I know i'm being a little extreme, but I see a connection)

In addition to having a brain to body size ratio that is only slightly lower than humans, there is a good amount of evidence showing that Dolphins are very intelligent and may even have a complex language. I think such intelligent creatures, and I would include the great apes in this, should be given "personhood" and killing them should be considered murder.

Absolutely. I would include other "noble" animals such as Elephants too...

They've been doing this for years. I've read somewhere that they kill a lot of the dolphins because they believe that the dolphins deplete their fish stocks.
Verily poor as we are in democracy, how can we give of it to the world? A democracy conceived in the military servitude of the masses, in their economic enslavement, and nurtured in their tears and blood, is not democracy at all

Gah! Is there some sort of animal hierarchy that I don't know about? What makes one animal more 'noble' than another? Simply brain size? Appearance?

I bet the east Indians cringe at the thought of us devouring innocent noble cows.

Eh? You're talking about Hindus, right? And yes, they would cringe. But what are you trying to say here?
The prolonged barrage engulfed Zero-One in the glow of a thousand suns. But unlike their former masters with their delicate flesh, the machines had little to fear of the bombs' radiation and heat. Thus did Zero-One's troops advance outwards in every direction. And one after another, mankind surrendered its territories. So the leaders of men conceived of their most desperate strategy yet. A final solution: the destruction of the sky.

True.

I don't really oppose them eating dolphins.

I do highly oppose killing for little cause, though. Eating is a cause. I support sharks eating stupid humans, but I myself can prefer not to eat humans. Simply don't eat dolphin if you oppose it. However, endangered animals should be protected, but it doesn't look like those dolphins are endangered there.

As long as you eat and use it, it's OK. Kill when you have to! If you ever have to do something, do it. No questions asked. But if it is unnecessary and unbalancing, then is the time to oppose. Such as killing rhinos and elephants for the sole purpose of ivory, it sickens me. It's a product of greed. Poachers are not that desperate for money.

What seperates what is "kosher" to eat and what isn't?
Intelligence? or familiarity?
Because Pigs have been proven to be much smarter than dogs (they can memorize more state capitals, apparently), yet we don't get sick over Porkchops sandwhiches or Hot Dogs, do we?
Dog is very tender and tasty meat, depending on the breed. I prefer the stocky dogs like English Sheepdog and Saint Bernards, because they grill up the best and taste similar to beef. Poodles are good, too, but taste more like poultry.

I'm saying while the idea of eating dolphins may seem barbaric to us we must also consider that our own diet may seem babaric and cruel to others.
