    Default North Dakota

So apparently there is a town in North Dakota that has a negative unemployment rate. The town is called Williston and I was wondering if its true that anybody could find work there? I can't even get a call from McDonald's so I wouldn't even care if I had to sleep outside because the town has no houses left. I need a job and would appreciate any help on info about that town.

How is it possible to have a negative unemployment rate? Are people being hired before they even hand in a resume or something?

Sounds like that could be right. I was watching a segment on Morning Joe and apparently a person working at a fast food place can make $15.00 an hour. I guess they struck oil or something.

It's possible, North Dakota has a rather large resource-based sector of the economy.

I think the negative employment rate is kind of misleading, but technically true because the demand for employees is higher than the actual workforce available.

It's not like it's one magical town in ND, the whole state is experiencing somewhat of a "boom", at least relative to the shit going on elsewhere. It's like what happened in florida a billion years ago or north carolina (very popular with new yorkers at the moment, my family is probably going to move there in a month when I split to canada). It's cheaper there and not yet overcrowded, so it's getting a lot of economic migration which is in turn stimulating business.

What Blackscare said is correct. They are also experiening a large nflux of capital due to oil and minerals discoveries as well as investment in pipelines.
