The processor performs 8 trillion operations per second, equivalent to a super-computer and 1,000 times faster than standard processors, with 256 lasers performing computations at light speed.
It is geared toward such applications as high resolution radar, electronic warfare, luggage screening at airports, video compression, weather forecasting and cellular base stations.

Thats funny, 'cause here I was thinking that all computers based on electricity worked at the speed of light, 'cause thats how fast electrons move!

Or do they mean it does a lot of thinks in a short amount of time? Why didn't they say that?

actually, when electricity is moving through copper or gold, it makes a difference what kind of material it's going through. different materials will slow down the electrons more. platinum is supposed to be one of the best, but it's still going at a speed less than light.

I could be wrong, but I used to hang with some very nerdy nerds back in the day

Well, at least it will be able to run Half-Life 2.
The prolonged barrage engulfed Zero-One in the glow of a thousand suns. But unlike their former masters with their delicate flesh, the machines had little to fear of the bombs' radiation and heat. Thus did Zero-One's troops advance outwards in every direction. And one after another, mankind surrendered its territories. So the leaders of men conceived of their most desperate strategy yet. A final solution: the destruction of the sky.

If it ever comes out that is...

Damned Israeli's, you just know they'll be using it for "electronic warfare"...

And all this fantastic development at a time when the Israeli economy is in the midst of a depression; I would have thought they could find something more worthwhile to spend the cash on. Feeding the population perhaps...
