    Question Why is the Income Tax and other Taxes Taxed by Percent or % and not for example one p

    Why is the Income Tax and other Taxes Taxed by Percent or % and not for example one person makes 30 million dollars a year and instead of paying by percent or % the person must pay 100 dollars in taxes why can't taxes work this way can anyone explain ?

    In our current system, if we want social programs to keep running, we need tax dollars. If we had a tax of everyone pays x amount, we'd either not have enough money for social programs, or there would be many who could not afford to eat because they had to pay high taxes. By making it varying percentages, it's possible to collect enough revenue to fund the various social programs, while, ostensibly, taking the tax burden off of those who can't afford to pay as high taxes, and moving it to those who can, taking into account each person's ability to contribute.

    Because there is no reason why rich fucks should pay the same amount as a single mother trying to support several kids. That's why those who have the means pay more.
