Not new, but I thought it might not be known, so I copy it.
This is kind of public knowledge in the Netherlands. Apart from that, he was a general reactionary, chauvinist pig later on as well. He played a prominent role in a scandal involving accepting $1 million in bribes from Lockheed to influence the Governments decisions regarding aircraft purchases as well as involvement in training members of the South African Apartheid regime-affiliated counter-insurgency unit Koevoet. Bernhard played a prominent role in the construction of the Dutch Intelligence services after World War II.
The head of the post-WWII Dutch security services, Louis Einthoven was also the head of the intelligence section of the Dutch Gladio branch and knew Bernhard fairly intimately. Einthoven collaborated with the Gestapo in the '30s and founded a right-wing conservative movement during WWII called "Dutch Union". Eventually, he met Prince Bernhard after the south of the Netherlands was liberated and was appointed chief of the intelligence services two years later.
Bernhard played a role in the re-construction of the conservative, right-wing 'Studentenweerbaarheden' (Student Defence Squads) affiliated to the fraternaties. These fraternaties had played a rather prominent role in the right-wing conservative, nationalist resistance to the German occupation and Bernhard envisioned a similar role for them in the event of 'Soviet Occupation' or a Communist insurgency. It is possible Gladio members were recruited from these groups.

He betrayed dozens of dutch communists and delivered them into the hands of the SD when the WWII was reaching its end. He had a great influence on the execution of Hanny Schaft.

To the English speaking members prins Claus the husband of Beatrix was a member of the Hitlerjugend and briefly served in the wehrmacht but was captured before he saw action.
The hitlerjugend part was mandatory but i think his service in the wehrmacht was also forced on him.

Bernhard was also a close friend of an employee of his, Baron van Lynden, a conservative ex-resistance member of the G7 group who went on to have a prominent function in the Operational branch of Gladio. Another personal friend and ex-member of the conservative-nationalist resistance was wealthy banker-heir Bib van Lanschot (of the Van Lanschot private bankers family/enterprise) who reputedly had a large role in financing the stay-behind. In this Dutch investigative report: http://parlis.nl/pdf/bijlagen/BLG5887.pdf, by the Ministry of Defence there are many more links between the royal family (and Bernhard in particular) and the schemes of the Cold War.
Whether Gladio actually operated in the Netherlands is unknown though many incidents (like the far-right Amsterdam metro bomb plot, the 2nd wave of RaRa bombings and several bombings supposedly from the autonomous movement) have dubious qualities. Ofcourse it's perfectly possible that these attacks were genuine or that they were 'casual' manipulations by the Intelligence Services. It's also possible that the actual stay-behind never amounted to much and provided more of a logistic role to the other european stay-behinds, which would be typical for Dutch military operations![]()

With second wave of RaRa bombings, do you mean the ones against the anti-immigration apparatus that was under construction then? Each of those actions was accompanied by a communique, and during this time RaRa also released a self-interview explaining their motivations.
I've read some of their communiques of this time as well as that interview and there's nothing dubious about them. If they were indeed a Gladio plot then they were one that knew their socialism and anti-fascism. Also, you might disagree with their tactics, but nobody ever died or got hurt during any RaRa action (probably thanks to careful planning) which doesn't really fit the image of a Gladio action.
I mean, compare this with the strategy of tension in Italy where hundreds of people died in terror attacks that were ascribed to anarchist groups. If RaRa was part of Gladio, they really weren't very good at it.
So what are these dubious qualities you're talking about?

I would second what tjis said, while one could argue that blowing up costo's house by the rara and the failed bomb attack by amsterdam autonomen on the mayor house after the death of Hans kok where of an before that unknown militancy and technical expertise by that time enough dutchies been to el salvador and nigaragua to pick up those skills and there where also enough ira, Tamil tigers, rz, 2nd of June, pflp, raf and eta contacts to be found in the scene to acquire explosives and/or a ready made bomb.
