Default More news from the DPRK (International Solidarity)

Just some news that I think might make the DPRK look more positive in some people's eyes here:

War Victory Day of DPRK Celebrated by Brazilian Organization
Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- The Brazilian Committee for Solidarity with the DPRK on July 21 posted on its Internet homepage an article titled "DPRK, July 27, day of victory" on the occasion of the June 25-July 27 month of anti-U.S. joint struggle.
The victory of the Korean people in the past Fatherland Liberation War occupies a distinguished place in the history of the DPRK, the homepage said in its article.
The U.S. which boasted of being the "strongest" in the world mobilized huge armed forces and squandered unprecedentedly big military expenditure in the Korean War but it recorded its first defeat in history, it noted.
There went on the confrontation between the DPRK and the U.S. after the Korean War but all the cases ended in the U.S. defeat, in other words, in the victory of the Korean people, it said.
The historic meaning of July 27, the war victory day of the Korean people, was put in bold relief amid their steady victories in confrontation with the U.S., it noted, adding: July 27 will shine long as the day of the Korean people's victory.

Now, given that kind of solidarity wouldn't exist if the DPRK is as oppressive nation as some here claim.

Iranian Embassy Officials Observe DPRK-Iran Friendship Week
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Ambassador Morteza Moradian and staff members of the Iranian embassy here visited Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies on Monday on the occasion of the week of DPRK-Iran friendship.
The visitors toured a room dedicated to the history of the university and lecture rooms, being briefed on the fact that the university has trained competent talents with enough facilities needed for educational science.
They presented it with educational equipment and books.
Earlier, they had talks with officials of the DPRK on the matter of developing the relations between the two countries and enjoyed sports and amusement games at the Meari Shooting Gallery, deepening friendship.

    And on the economic front:

New Fruit Processing Factory Built in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- The Taedonggang Combined Fruit Processing Factory was built in Samsok District, Pyongyang.
The factory, belonging to the Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm, covers tens of thousands of square meters and its annual production capacity is tens of thousands of tons. It produces varieties of fruit juice, soda pop, jam, vinegar, perfume, shampoo and rinse.
Its high-tech production processes like raw material treatment, filtering, concentration, finishing and packing are monitored and controlled by computer.
The products of the factory have flavor and aroma peculiar to fruits.
When visiting the factory some time ago, General Secretary Kim Jong Il praised its employees for operating the production processes in a modern and scientific way.

North Korea sells out the working class and allies with the Iranian Ruling Class. Not surprising.
Make no mistake: The organization of the working class must be both economic and political. The capitalist is organized upon both lines. You must attack him on both.

The most important word in the language of the working class is solidarity.

You need to correct your ideology, Iran is a socialist republic officially, it has many shortcomings yes, but the proper method of bringing them to socialism fully is engagement, like the DPRK is engaging them. It is not selling out the working class, it is showing solidarity with them!

Actually, Iran is officially an Islamic republic. You do realize that simply stating your nation is socialist doesn't make it so, right? Or are you just trolling?

No, I think the DPRK is nowhere near socialist in practice, structure, or organization. It's more of a full blown monarchy than anything else. And Iran is essentially a militaristic theocracy - nothing revolutionary about it.

What principles might those be, and adhered to in what way? I fail to see how a theocracy that still sees stoning as a form of punishment can be considered, again, revolutionary. This was from last year:

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year-old mother of two, convicted of adultery in Iran, may be stoned to death unless a last-minute campaign saves her.
Human-rights campaigners say that Ashtiani, who says she was under duress when she confessed to adultery, could be buried up to her breasts and stoned to death as soon as this weekend.
Ashtiani has been in prison since May 2006, when she was convicted of adultery and sentenced to 99 lashes. Later that year she was accused of murdering her husband. Those charges were dropped, but an inquiry into the adultery charge was reopened. She was, according to The Guardian, sentenced to death under a rule that allows judges to cite "judge's knowledge" and convict without evidence.
Ashtiani, represented by prominent human-rights lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei, has failed in her appeals. AOL reports that a panel may convene as soon as Saturday to decide her fate. According to Amnesty International, the Iranian penal code specifies that "stones are large enough to cause pain, but not so large as to kill the victim immediately." Article 102 of the Penal Code states that men should be buried up to their waists and women up to their breasts for the purpose of execution by stoning. Article 104 states, with reference to the penalty for adultery, that the stones used should "not be large enough to kill the person by one or two strikes; nor should they be so small that they could not be defined as stones." Iran executed 388 people last year, mostly by hanging, leaving it second only to China in the number of people put to death, according to Amnesty International.
Ashtiani's family has launched an international appeal to save her, and human-rights campaigners claim that at least two other women also face execution by stoning. One of them, arrested at 15 years old, has reportedly even been subject to a mock stoning. It may only be a matter of days until the real thing begins.

They (North Korean) sources are the most reliable because they are on the scene, yes. North Korea is a very closed society due to the risk of foreigners spying or spreading unrest.

Come to think of it...what is this OP even about? North Korea must be wonderful because a bunch of nondescript Brazilian North Korean fans have said that North Korea is awesome? Why should I believe they opinion? Why should I trust them? Why does the existence of this solidarity prove that North Korea isn't as oppressive as we claim?

We'll discuss this first micro-story before moving on to the second and the third. It may be interesting if we can know the significance of any of these stories, and why they are supposed to sway our opinion, so perhaps our resident Jucheist can explain...?

EDIT: I'm not even going to respond to the post above this...

I suppose the Nazi propaganda was pretty reliable when they said the Jews were being transported to camps where they would work for their freedom.

Stupid binary analysis. Replacing a pile of shit with another pile of shit has fuck all to do with leftism- worse than that, a pile of shit that makes leftism look bad and gifts to capitalism propaganda gold and some slight materialistic justification.
