Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm Admired by Foreigners
    Pyongyang, August 12 (KCNA)

After visiting the farm, Martin Lotscher, chairman of the Switzerland-Korea Committee, said the farm is associated with benevolent politics pursued by leader Kim Jong Il and that such an amazing farm can never be found in other countries.
Anders Karlsson, chairman of the Communist Party of Sweden, said the farm offers a glimpse of Kim Jong Il's strenuous effort for providing the people with a happy life, as well as advantages of the socialist economy.
It is incredible that this large and wonderful fruit farm was built in only three years.
Mamoru Kitahara, chairman of the Fukuoka Prefectural Association for Japan-DPRK Friendship, said he deemed it a great honor to visit the fruit farm at a time when the Korean people were striving hard to build a thriving nation.
He congratulated the Korean people on the tremendous achievements they made under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Hmm, an endorsement of from the Swedish communist party and Switzerland. Surely, this must count for something in your eyes?

This thread is pathetic. Nobody cares how much North Korea supporters love a poxy fruit farm, get over it...

(On an unrelated and rather irrelevant note, that article spelled Anders Carlsson's name wrong...and his party isn't the Communist Party of Sweden, which is a different, smaller party led by Victor Diaz de Filippi, but the Communist Party, simply enough, or, if one seeks clarity, Communist Party (Sweden)...)

Truth behind Japs' Renaming "East Sea of Korea" "Sea of Japan" Probed
Pyongyang (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday carried an article contributed by Dr. Kim Thae Ryol in which he probed the truth behind Japan's criminal renaming of the "East Sea of Korea" "Sea of Japan."
The article says that the historic origin of the designation of the "East Sea of Korea" and a historic change in its wording and the course of its development clearly prove that the efforts of Japan to rename the sea have no validity.
The article cites facts to prove this fact. It goes on:
No one can deny that the "East Sea of Korea" has been universally recognized as the designation is in full line with international usage and trend and the requirements of the norms set by the organizations for the standardization of international geographical designations.
In view of historical usage, the designation of "East Sea" originates from the name of "East Sea" called by Koreans 2,200 years ago. It has been called so for at least 2,000 years since then. Up to this date it has been called "East Sea of Korea" as it was used to be called before.

Does it now! Well that's certainly a load off my mind - and here I was thinking the N. Korean government incapable of stating actual facts.

Why do you keep posting this crap? Because you know that's what it is: crap.

    Greetings to Syrian FM
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun sent a message of greeting to Walid Al-Muallem, minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, on the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Syria.
The message said that the two countries have boosted the ties of friendship, supporting and closely cooperating with each other in various fields after the establishment of diplomatic ties and expressed the belief that the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation with a long history and tradition would continue to vigorously develop.

Kim Jong Il Sends Reply Message to Syrian President
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, sent a reply message to Bashar Al-Assad, president of Syria who doubles as regional secretary of the Arab Baath Socialist Party, on Wednesday.
    The message said:
I express thanks to you for sending a message of sympathy in connection with the floods that hit some parts of the DPRK, causing damage.
Availing myself of this opportunity, I express belief that the good relations of friendship and cooperation between our two countries would grow stronger.

DPRK's Environmental Law Supplemented with New Articles
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Law on the Protection of Environment was recently supplemented with some articles in two chapters.
Articles 38, 39 and 40, which stipulate the development and use of renewable energy, the establishment of an environmental authentication system and the introduction of technologies of recycling resources, were added to Chapter 3 "Prevention of Environmental Pollution". Articles 44 and 48, regulating the planning of environmental economy indexes and the supervision over environmental condition, were annexed to Chapter 4 "Supervision over Environmental Protection".
The new articles are aimed to encourage the country's industrial establishments and agencies to reduce the consumption of fossil energy like coal and crude oil and develop and utilize renewable energy such as solar, wind and geothermal power in order to protect environment and ensure a stable economic growth.
They are also aimed to base production and management activities on a proper environmental conservation system and increase the utility rate of recycled resources.

It's nice to see some solidarity shown with the Syrian government. Even if many here seem to want Syria to be overthrown, there are still comrades such as the PSL and the DPRK which show great sympathy for the Syria and want to see it chart a course free from US or European influence.

Considering Syria has been described by some as approaching fascism, and is currently butchering its own people, I'm hardly surprised they're friendly with the North Koreans...

The DPRK is probably the single most progressive state in the world. During the years of crisis, they instituted limited private markets. These have now been illegalised, following the end of the crisis. This shows that the North Korean leadership aren't as affected by revisionism as other so-called "socialists".

Exactly. The DPRK is dedicated to socialism, and suffers an embargo from the US. Yet here few show solidarity.

progress i hear you say, well if you think that the military is the revolutionary class, labour camps are pretty dandy, that workers hold no power whatsoever and a almost monarchic leadership is pretty rad then you might think the north korean regime is "progressive".
on the other hand if you are a communist/socialist you cant find the north korean regime in any way "progressive", it is a brutal dictatorship that represses the workers. but seing in other threads that you like repression and violence and purges, i can see why you like north korea so much.
All i want is a Marxist Hunk.

It is true that labor produces for the rich wonderful things – but for the worker it produces privation. It produces palaces – but for the worker, hovels. It produces beauty – but for the worker, deformity. It replaces labor by machines, but it throws one section of the workers back into barbarous types of labor and it turns the other section into a machine. It produces intelligence – but for the worker, stupidity, cretinism.

oh other so called socialists, or better socialists by name only. lets support them even if their policy has nothing to do with socialism and also the syrian regime supresses workers too, what better way to show your socialistic spirit.

    RevleftByBirth+Azula+AlASSad=Mass Stupidity on a global/criminal scale

The stupidity it burns! I have never seen so many syncretics make that much BS! Last time I see stupidity readings like this was when I saw the plot to the game Sonic 2006!

Anyways, the ideologies that RevleftByBirth, Azula, and AlASSad espouse pretty much are either far-right reactionaryism, or syncretic fascism.

Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Marked Abroad
    ...
Eddie Kekana, chairman of the South African Group, noted at a lecture titled "With superb guerrilla tactics" that the Japanese imperialists sustained a shameful defeat by the outstanding war method of Kim Il Sung.

Kim Il Sung commemorated as liberator of Korea from the Japanese imperialists. If it weren't for Kim Il Sung all of Korea would today either be oppressed like South Korea or still under Japanese occupation.

Actually, Japan's emperor is like Britain's king, does absolutely nothing.

Japan is actually a democracy that has two major parties with lots of minor parties. There is the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, which is pretty much a centre-right party of free market moderate conservatives. (The American Republicans are actually way more right wing.) Then there is the Democratic Party, which is a social democratic party with Social Liberals and Democratic Socialists in it too. NOT a totalitarian reactionary monarchy that it was in world war 2. It wasn't even fascist to begin with.

    But, it is odd.

Also, Putin and Kim Jung Il.....Really? Just Really?
