Feminist theory is about empowering women to create equality. Patriarchy is a real thing. Men do not have to deal with their reproductive rights being under attack, are not blamed for getting raped because they dress in revealing clothing, do not systematically receive lower wages and fewer opportunities because of their genitals, are not expected to wear physically constraining clothing, footwear and expensive and time-consuming make-up. "Not taking feminism seriously" because of a corporate TV show's image of women is stupid. It would be like not taking anti-racism seriously because of the New Black Panther Party.
The ruling class brands non-class divisions like sex and race into working class peoples heads to keep them from uniting, therefore addressing those differences through ideas like feminism is vital in advancing the class struggle.
What is really laughable is the idea that shows like "The Talk" and "The View" are actually feminist. They are great tools for reinforcing gender-norms, all while giving the superficial semblance of "inclusion." It's the exact same thing you see with shows like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" which actually just plays off of gay stereotypes and reinforces heteronormative views. i.e., "gays are good at interior decorating, straight men are slobs"--with the talk shows its, "women are chatterboxes who say stupid things". So it looks like The Amazing Atheist took the bait and the show gets the message across that its producers wanted it to get across.

It might be easier to take in his points about sexism and about how stupid feminism supposedly is if he wasn't constantly referring to these women as "****s" and "*****es". Furthermore I don't think it's a female/feminist issue, like women think it's so empowering when a woman chops off a guy's penis, because even guys are probably laughing at this. Or to take another example when the guy got caught robbing a place and was chained up and raped. I remember even some guys on this site were like "lucky guy lol" and shit like that and justifying it. I'd actually bet that more guys would laugh at the idea of another man getting raped or would show less compassion towards a man who has gotten raped before. I mean you can clearly see this when you go see a movie, comedy movies will often have scenes where a man is getting raped and it's something that is funny even amongst guys.
What this douche is missing is the feminist movement isn't about fixing problems men might face in society(like how to deal with a society that doesn't accept that men can be raped or how wrong it is for anyone to mutilate your penis)but how to create a world where women and men are equals. Regardless of whether we're talking about male on female violence or vice versa, the sexes should'nt be hacking each others genitals off and making light of it on TV afterwards. Up to that point, the AA is absolutely correct.
This doesnt empower women any more than black on white violence empowers black people.
AA simply confuses "egalitarian feminism" (= normal feminism, that seeks to equalize the sexes) with ... uhm "supremacist? feminism", that seeks to reverse the hierachy of today's system,meaning to put women in the 'dominant sex' seat.

The reason they were laughing at the man is because of Patriarchal Gender Roles. Men are "supposed" to be "tough protectors", and women are "supposed" to be "weak victims". The man was a victim, so they laughed because he didn't "perform like a real man". This applies for all of the examples TAA gave.

No instead men are not taken seriously when they claim they were raped. I suspect most everyone considers male rape of a female worse than female rape of a male, after all aren't males just horny so they actually want to be raped? When people hear of a story about a female High School student and a 40 year old male teacher having a sexual relation people consider it abhorrent, when it's a male student with a 40 year old female teacher many would respond "good for the kid".

How often do you think men worry about their penis size? I'm actually scared a girl will think it's too small for her and cheat on me because she cannot get satisfaction from my size. And neither do women, according to one study done by a Dutch sociologist I think. She pointed out women receive lower wages because women in the work force are generally lower educated and younger, not because of their sex.
Men get higher sentences for the same crimes than women. Men pay higher insurance premiums than women do. I could go on and on about how men are being discriminated.

If you actually paid attention to that video, you'll notice he loves to to mention Iran every other sentence as a society where they mutilate women indiscriminately. Contrary to what you might believe, female genital mutilation is not practiced in Iran (apart from the people in the Kurdish hinterland, but they're a supposedly politically oppressed minority that America loves anyway, just as in Iraq).
This is just another example of a white man's racist ignorance, because in his mind all Muslim people from north Africa to central Asia are the same, and he cannot distinguish societies that practice FGM from those that do not.

Im perhaps playing devils advocate here but i'm not sure that was what TAA was implying. I think his point is more to do with the way in which the media are making LIGHT of the incident in question, and the double standard therein rather than anything to do with the incident having any relevance or stake in girl power.
Up to that point as i said, I'm in concurrence the media should not be making light of this sort of mutilation in any form. Nor do i see any inherent misogyny in questioning whether the content of the show in question should have been aired.
Where i diverge from him is that he fails to apply an honest material analysis in the context of the feminist movement and the unequal treatment women still face. Women are not yet on the level with men, but this sort of cringeworthy television is not the way to acheive it.
