You have to admit it's been pretty dull around here without me. Let's see: seems OI is all Kim-etts and Stalinites and games.
Anyway--my news: I've been to the (former) Promised Land (Communist China) for three weeks and thanks to what I've learned at RevLeft--it was a pretty interesting visit. Honestly, if I went there as a "typical American" with the typical American mindset about Communism I would have missed 90% of what was going on. Shanghai is the seat of a capitalism more virulent than any I've ever seen in the West. It literally "eats" the Communist peasents living in the rural areas. One day those people are farmers and the next someone builds a factory and they are working for Capitalists. And interesting enough--there is nothing as Feudal and a member of the Chinese Communist Party--even minor officials. They are like Dukes and Earls (or at least rappers)-huge enterages opening doors and getting them tea and single malt Scotch--and playing golf. One of my favorite thoughts while I was there was that this is what Jazzratt and Mari3L are going to be like after the Revolution.
China is a very strange place. I write about it in more detail when I have time.
What else? I kind of miss you guys. I REALLY miss CotR--she's probably all sorts of mad at me, but I think about her every day. Bewitching woman.
