I'm really not surprised by this. Male rape is vastly more likely to happen from supposedly 'hetero' men than gay men. 'Hetero' men raping gay men as a punishment for being gay for instance. So perhaps there is a vast amount of homophobia that disguises a shame of homosexual feelings.

Rape generally has little to do with explicitly sexual desires and is far more often meant as a means of asserting ones power and authority over another.
