I wouldn't do this except malte suggested it. please could the german speakers check my essay for mistakes. Thanks in advance.

It's funny to see that PC German spelling (LehrerInnen) has made it's way to the English schools. Have really learnt it that way, or have you researched that by yourself?

or the new spelling rules-- double s, etc.

EDIT: wasn't LehrerInnen in use in Austria?

is it a new spelling rule?

LOL...PC = political correct
Which means in this case to use the universal male and female plural "LehrerInnen" instead of the usual male plural "Lehrer", which would be perfect proper German.

It's similar to PC-english: steward/stewardess becomes flight attendant.
The only difference is that while in english you replace male/female words by more neutral expressions, such as in the example above, in german you try to include both sexes in one word ( i.e. LehrerIn instead of Lehrer m. or Lehrerin f. )

come on, I know the subject doesn't sound particularly interesting, but PC does certainly have it's place.

I didn't have a chance to post my essay before I had to hand it in, so no worries. Next half of term I should be better, I've just so behind with my homework I have to do it the night before I have to hand it in. Oh well.
