This is quoted from a letter sent to the Independent, a Broadsheet newspaper here in the UK.
I quote this because it is just so damn right:
"Sir: I am writing in response to the many appeals, made in your pages and elsewhere, for what I can only describe as toleration of international terrorism. As recent events are making increasingly clear, the chief agents of terror deserve neither support nor misguided attempts at "understanding".
They are an intelligent, wealthy, well-connected clique. They regard human life, including the lives of their followers, as expendable. They have killed thousands of innocent civilians around the world, made common cause with tyrants in the Arab world and beyond, and left their fellow nationals tragically vulnerable to reprisals. It appears that they have long been manipulating the global finance system in order to profit from misery and terror. Moreover, they are sheltered by a regime which affects a crude religious zealotry, which has taken power by undemocratic means, practised widespread judicial murder, and flouted internationally accepted laws, rights and standards at a whim.
Enough is enough. The United States must be opposed.

good for you
Gosh - at first I thought it was about bin Laden and those evil al-Qaeda terrorists, but then it turns out it was the U.S. that was the evil terrorist! I sure was fooled! I guess I have to reconsider everything I believed about America. Wow - how enlightening. Thanks for the info, CommieBastard.
sarcasm?
i wasnt trying to convince anyone of anything, i just thought it was interesting. FFS, some people...
oh, and Reagan, can i just say, just try and deny anything there...
GO TO HELL AMERICA!
the real terrorism is in america and its camps r the pentagon, white house, and congress not afghanistan. this fuckin americans used to fund terrorists and grant them asylum when they used to slaughter people all over the arab world causing terror to INNOCENT CIVILIANS too!! at that time terror was okay with these devils, but when the terrorism attacked american targets, they started fighting it! america always plays the same DIRTY game. they try to decieve us by noble words and aims while they r puch of criminals. the democracy they r talking about is only for the american people. they try to make us think that the attacks against america is attacks against democracy and civilization while they r attacks at the american MEAN foreign policy! america knows nothing about the words
"INNOCENT CIVILIANS" except if it concern americans. the poor farmers in veitnam who were slaughterd by the american army were not INNOCENT CIVILIANS!!!!?
the japanese in Nagazaki were not INNOCENT CIVILIANS!!!!!?( it's worth mentioning that they threw the atomic bomb on Nagazaki after japan had surrendered). the palestinians slaughtered everyday by the israeli army who does not know the word MERCY r not INNOCENT CIVILIANS!!!!!?? the american conspiracy in the persian gulf to wage the war between Iraq and Kuwait in order to justify its presence in the region to control oil wells caused the dead of INNOCENT CIVILIANS too. the american sanctions on iraq that caused the death of more than ONE MILLION CHILD is not a crime against INNOCENT CIVILIANS!!!!!?? the american intervention in every inch on earth is the REAL TERRORISM! THAT'S ENOUGH!!
americans must know the meaning of FEAR and DEATH to which they subject thousands of innocent civilians everyday.
GOD BLESS AFGHANISTAN!

The American govt. calls that collateral damage, that way it can safely ignore it.
i salute the person that wrote that letter! absolutely brilliant! thanx for posting it, CB...
\"I believe in the brotherhood of man, all men, but I don’t believe in brotherhood with anybody who doesn’t want brotherhood with me. I believe in treating people right, but I’m not going to waste my time trying to treat somebody right who doesn’t know how
Brilliant? Wow - what a low standard for brilliant. Sounded like an angry rant to me. Ignore the crimes of one side, exaggerate the crimes of the other - pretty standard stuff.
a nicely composed letter

CB - love the letter.
Reagan and Madmax - your gross displays of chauvanism are nauseating.
Do you ever stop to think about the manner in which you attempt to put your points across? It reveals your complete insensitivity and lack of respect for other human beings - typical rightwing approach.
It cannot but be supportive, socialist, communist or whatever you want to call it. Does nature, and the human species with it, have much time left to survive in the absence of such change? Very little time. Who will be the builders of that new world? The
absolutely, Chancho... but surely we (as human beings, not as leftists, socialists, or Che-admirers) wont stoop down to their levels wont we?
i love the way in which he ties america with everything he mentioned in the top, its sarcastic... and composing the letter in such way is just brilliant to me.. i dont know about u, madmax...
\"I believe in the brotherhood of man, all men, but I don’t believe in brotherhood with anybody who doesn’t want brotherhood with me. I believe in treating people right, but I’m not going to waste my time trying to treat somebody right who doesn’t know how
just as impressive chancho

madmax, the writer of that letter is in no way ignoring the crimes Islamic terrorists, in a way it is a stab at both them and the US.
As for exxagerating the crimes of the US, if anything, they have portrayed them in an exxageratedly small way.
OK, so here's what happened.
I read an mind-numbing letter posted here that called Americans "terrorists" (how novel!). It was the dumbest thing I've read in a while. So I replied and wrote that, then hit the "enter" key and prepared to critique all the points that were made in said letter. So I scrolled down to the review, and realized that the letter DIDN'T MAKE ANY POINTS FOR ME TO REFUTE. So I left my post how it was, in what I thought was a stunningly accurate and concise summary of my feelings about it.
If you expect me to waste my valuable time arguing against generalizations that don't stand up under the lightest scrutiny, exaggerations, and displays of flagrant self-serving biases, then you're going to be disappointed.

good post commiebastered, i of course must agree with the letter.
i also might add that im opposed to US strikes not because i like the taliban or think that they are a legitimate goverment, but because it will solve nothing. Its only a show of force, an act of revenge and something done to satisfy american crys for blood. It will only increse the problem of terrorism, the only true and serious way to adress this problem is by sloving the issues that cause terrorism. Not to mention "colateral damage" and the refugie crises of up to 1 million afegans.
And if we go down the road of questioning undemocratic goverments in how many contrys will we have to act? are some tyranies ok (pro western) and some not ok?
as my comrads in the leftist pary say: no hypocrisy is tolerable in this fight.
best wishes
u r completely right EL_CHE ; thought the leaders in the middle east and the islamic world r tyrants who supress the people, they r okay because they serve the american interests, and it's the same game all the time. america support tyrants as long as she benefits from them.
Saddam Huessin was a tyrant before the gulf war who used to kill the kurds by chemichal weapons, however, the US supported him because he was fighting against Iran (an enemy for the US) which made him able to create the forth most powerful army in the world, and the US did not mention anything about the kurds. but after the gulf war Huessin became the "rutheless tyrant" who kill the poor kurds!!! HOW FUNNY THE AMERICAN POLICY IS!!!? the CIA r used to saying that they know everything about Huessin even the size of his underwear, so why doesn't the US overthrow him??? because his presence is the only justification for the american troops to keep striking Iraq and spreading american troops in the gulf region! america always has its SLY and CHEAP plans everywhere in the world!! why don't they just care about their country leaving the whole world to live in peace without their inteventions????!!
americans pretend all the time that they care about the rights of the minorities in the other countries to find a justification to intervene in their own business, but i don't understand why they neglect the violitions of the rights of minorities in their country!!!? what about the african americans who appeared in Durban asking for their rights??! why didn't we see ever an african american as a president for the US( THE OASIS OF DEMOCARACY!!!!! HA.. HA.. HA). the noble words the american presidents use r just for domestic consumption not anything else! so don't be decieved by them!!
hey REAGAN LIVES! when will u americans start to know the REAL UGLY FACE of ur country!? they make u live in a dream about democracy and human rights while they slaughter the people in the third world! instead of critisizing my words, try to play a role to change ur country's foreign policy that STRIKES POOR PEOPLE WHO DO NO EVEN HAVE FOOD!! please don't tell me that the US drops food on the afghans beside bombs! it's really funny!! in our country we have a proverb says that there r some people who r mean enough to kill the people then go to attend their funerals with great sorrow!!!! it's as if that the americans r telling the afghans: HEY! DON'T DIE FROM HUNGER! JUST WAIT! WE WILL KILL U WITH OUR BOMBS!!!
if u have nothing to defend ur country with, don't justify it by saying that ur time is so valueble that u won't spend it answering my letter!!!
