    Default I'm shocked.. Completely..

My grandfather passed away around 8 years ago due to Skin Cancer, and my grandmother kept all of his personal belongings in this large case that was never opened, except by him.

Well today we opened it, and I pissed my pants. He had a Nazi Armband, a Nazi Flag, a document signed by Heinrich Himmler, and an old Mauser, and a Hitler Youth Knife. We knew he was a huge WWII collector, but the Heinrich Himmler signature is 100% (We got it checked).

I thought I would put it in the history section, because today, history was made for me

P.S. The stuff is still at my grandmother's house. I'll throw some pictures up here about the document when I pick it up in 2 weeks.

That's pretty creepy/weird. What are you going to do with it? I hope not sell it to loony Nazis who will be happy to have it.

EDIT: I'm sure you could find a museum or university that would like some of the documents and artifacts. And then it won't end up in some neo-Nazi collector's collection.

I might keep the document. But I'm going to give the armband and flag to a local museum or something. I ain't doing nothing until I shoot that mauser first.

I'm not sure. I mean IIRC, there was some blackprint inside of the armband. The flag looked really old, because it could've been a reproduction.

    GIVE ME THE MAUSER!!!!!!!

Send me some pics of it, I'll tell you straight up what it is.

Also, is it just me, or does there seem to be a lot of neo-Nazi's in PA? There sure are a lot of them from PA on SF.

It's a Yugo M24/47. It's odd though, It IS a Mauser, but it has a hammer and sickle on the top. Maybe it was captured?

i think yugoslavia produced mausers post-war until they got soviet licenses.

    24/47

    24 means design date
    47 means production date.

Nice. I'd keep ahold of that one, they're pretty pricey depending on where you look. Great find. And the reason it has the Hammer & Sickle is because it was refurbished during the Cold War when Tito was in power.

Actually, like many countries that had Mauser's over the years, the Yugoslavians just asked Mauser to make them a rifle in their specs, just like Spain did, etc. That's why you get guns like the Spanish Mauser, Chilean Mauser, etc.

Also, at the end of WW2, the added '47 just means the year that they started making their own Mauser, with the '24 design.

Yeah, pics with a letter references this debate would be good.

I also would like to put out that being a collector of NAZI memorabilia doesn't mean you are a Neo--NAZI, I can appreciate much of the aesthetics (and I do not just mean the Hugo Boss uniforms!), even if I do not agree with what they represent. The Mauser is a lovely looking gun, like the Luger (notice how beautiful weapons can be despite their ugly job?), which were created before Nazism anyway.
