What do people think of Margret Thatcher?

I hate her and so does my Brother (who's a member of the conservative party)

She's the most right-wing leader we've ever had

She abolished Free Milk in Schools

She said Pinochet should be Released because
    1."He brought democracy to Chile"
2."He Supported Britain During the Faulklands War"

(And she Supported Pinochet's coup against Allende)

    She Destroyed the Trade Unions

She ordered a submarine captain to sink an Argantine hospital ship (violates a 1909 convention)

She hates Argantina with a passion

She complained about BA putting ethnic patterns on their planes on the basis that "they aren't British."

She endorsed comments made by john Townend that the British had become a "Mongrel Race" (There's a minority population in the UK of 5%)

Last time I attacked a conservative I got burned… so I’ll keep my mouth shut… except to say… she’s basically Regan in a dress.

Thatcher, plan and simple, she destroyed the very last remnants of democracy in the UK, tho there were few when she found them, there are now none.

Hey, come on guys, be fair ... Thatcherism gave rise to punk!
It cannot but be supportive, socialist, communist or whatever you want to call it. Does nature, and the human species with it, have much time left to survive in the absence of such change? Very little time. Who will be the builders of that new world? The

If you give rise to an opposing subculture because of your repugnancy - you are giving rise to it - not the opposition - no confusion CB.

You may be the cause of that subculture, but you are not responsible for that subcultures activities. And you have to ask, would punk have occured anyway, but found any leader who happened to be in power at the time repugnant?

the punk movement began long before adolf thatcher ever came to power, in fact, in protest to the new labour government's blatant betrayal of its working class roots. "blind acceptance is a sign/of stupid fools who stand in line" - jonny rotten 1977

Um... the punk movement started right here in NY... in CBGB's.... A British Bussnesman visiting NY city became interested in the bondage cuture and punk rock... and started a shop in London where Jonny Rotten first became interested in it. However the revolt against Thatcher probobly fueled the flames of it.

hmm, you might be right actually red celtic. now you come to mention it, weren't killing joke officially the first punk rock band? still, i think that the english movement set the scene for the punk ethos we all know and love today, especially fashion wise.

I love it, people quoting the Sex Pistols as political philosophers. You know why I love the Pistols, man they are the embodiment of capitalism, sell anything, and the people eat it up. In this case the anarchist right, what was that album the pistols made, "the Million dollar swindle" or something like that, their stated purpose, and I'm paraphrasing J.R. to make a million dollars by selling musical shit. But anyway I love the sex pistols.

that doesn't make the quote any less true. in fact, i think it's most appropriate to apply it to you, gullible fuck that you are. i'm well aware of the history of the sex pistols and they are just typical of the socialists when young, downright conservatives when old saying. but it seems as if you were never anything more than an out-and-out fascist agusto. what are you doing here anyway? you are just getting in the way of intelligent discussion with your ignorant, seemingly random inputs.

And By the way... yea so what if the Sex Pistols where sell outs... it's all insperational music man... As previously stated... Lennon was a sell out... And I quote him now and then....
