Ignore this man, for he talketh right pish.

(and his name is "Araya", not "Aryan").

Honest mistake. I seemed to have remembered it as such.

Bullshit. Gimme one half decent source for this.

The guys from the Combine Massacre listened to Mariyln Manson. All the schoolshooters in Finland and Germany of the recent years were fans of Ramstein.
Serial killer Richard Ramirez was a fan of Slayer and AC/DC.
I do realise that in my ferver I was pulling the 97% figure out of my bum. For that I apologise but my case still stands that heavy metal (in some cases) does attract nutjobs.
Like I said in my previous post, I am also sure it attracts some decent folks and I sure don't want to hurt anyone here.

Wait, you're criticising their cis-heteronormative attitudes (which I will admit that metal subculture is more backwards on than other alternative subcultures) on cis-heteronormative grounds? That doesn't really follow.

^ I am not really certain of what you're saying here. But if I am reading it right you claim that I call them out on their macho attitudes by invoking my own?
Hah, I am the least macho dude you'll ever come across.

This is complete horseshit. Slayer are anti-war ("War Ensemble", "Flesh Storm" hell, all of "Christ Illusion"), atheist (anything off of "God Hates Us All"), and anti-establishment (they dedicated an entire album to punk songs, "Undisputed Attitude").

Aside from butchering the names of the band members, which has already been touched on, you wrongly assert that they "glorify" Nazism. I assume you are referring to the song "Angel of Death" in your post, well Wiki has this to say about the track:

    Also:

You have obviously never listened to the band short of snippets from very, very skewed sources.

    Thanks for this information.
I admit that I have indeed never listened to the band, due to the fact that I cannot stand heavy metal sound. But you don't have to like something to have an opinion about.
We all here hate capitalism, doesn't mean we are restricted from having thoughts reflecting it and expressing these views.

That could indeed be one of the songs about Auschwitz I was referring to after reading those lyrics. I find it very ambivalent. They say they are against nazism, but why have music about it? Makes no sense.
Allow me to quote a few phrases of that song:

Showers that cleanse you of your life

    Sadist of the noblest blood

    Benefit the Aryan race

    Inferior, no use to mankind

What should I make of these sentences? Well? I am having immense trouble digesting these.

The song "Angel of Death" is about Josef Mengele (he was known as "Todesengel") - the lyrics simply reflect the atrocities that he committed. They aren't "glorifying" the acts, just singing about it. Have you never heard of a band writing songs about subjects they don't necessarily agree with, but have an interest in? I mean, they could have just written a song titled "Fuck Josef Mengele" but would that really have furthered their musical/songwriting careers?

Well, firstly, Manson and Rammstein are both poor examples, because they fall more into an goth and industrial area, respectively, -the Columbine shooters actually turned out to be into industrial music, rather than "scary goth rock", or whatever the media called it- than heavy metal in the narrower sense- as suggested by a reference to Slayer, so that doesn't really say anything about the metal subculture per se. That really only leaves you with Richard Ramirez, which is too small a sample to say much about anything.

I'm saying that you accuse that the narrow-minded machismo of metal fans is inconsistent with their long hair and make-up (although I'm not really sure what you mean by that?), but that only really follows if you make certain narrow-minded assumptions about what it is to be masculine in the first place, specifically, that long hair is feminine. So, yeah, doesn't really work.

Again, a lot of metal often deals with self-consciously unpleasant subject matter. Has done from the start- or do you really think that Black Sabbath were Satanists? Slayer just pushed into territory that offended liberals- and, apparently, a few anarchists- as well as conservatives.

    Marx wrote Das Kapital.

I don't even feel I need to say anything after quoting your stupidity. Sorry, but... You need to think things more through, and educate yourself before making shit statements about subjects it is blatantly obvious you know nothing about.

Metal music is to a large extent based on the idea of music as a source and expression of passion, even (or, perhaps, especially) including forms of it which can be considered 'beyond the pale'. Themes of aggression, death and violence are often explored. In the vast majority of cases, this does not mean (or imply) condoning or approving of violence or whatever ideology you could relate to it.

Mmm, if you say it like that, I really must have sounded like a right tit eh? Haha. Although I didn't mean it like that, it's good to be called out on so I can better think my sentences through.

At Dj Animosity, I will have to think about it. Will get back on it later.

It's like Cattle Decapitation are a band of vegans, but there lyrics about killing humans in horrifying ways. They use that to show the horrors of animal abuse. like it is akin to killing humans.

Hey everybody. I haven't posted in the thread for a couple of days for fear of causing a shitstorm again which is not my intention.

I did have a few songs as a peace offering, I will post them later.

What I actually wanted to tell you, is a bit more personal. Today I met at a party a fella that was like me, a bisexual. So we hit it off immediately. What was more importantly (to this thread anyway) was that he has been a metalhead for over twenty years (he's like 35 or 36) and so we got into a discussion about it. Long story short, he told me that nazi influences in metal are quite rare and generally frowned upon. He even claimed that a lot of metalheads tend more to the left.
We exchanged emails to keep in contact and he promised me to send for you guys (I told him about here and the flak I got for my posts) an email with bands you should check. So as soon as I here from him, I will let you know about bands you'd like.

So, I'm pretty spyched about this guy. Both he and his wife are bi like I am, and I am just awaiting for them to invite me sometime. He is tall and buff, blue eyes and long dark hair and with a piercing through his nose, she's Jewish with brown hair and green eyes..... both are fucking adorable!
Like most of you already know, I am English myself but have been residing for a couple of months in the Netherlands and probably will be for another year. Just gotta say, I love the Dutch and if there are any Dutch here, please contact me!
