From the bits I've seen in the news and read in the papers, I thought these were the "good" guys. I just read a post here where someone said they were just as bad as the Taliban and it really surprised me. I searched for some information on them and can't find anything other than little news snippets about Massood's death. Can someone point me in the right direction so I can learn more about this group?
The Northern Alliance are not the good guys. They are the "less bad" guys. At any rate, the previous Afghan government was not nearly as oppresive as the Taliban. Regardless of who is good or who is bad, the Taliban deserve to be eliminated. A new oppressor may or may not take their place. We'll blow up that bridge when we get to it.

well according to my source who is afghan, the northern alliance arent much better then the taliban. they arent as extreme, this group is the same one who fought the russians in war. cant tell u much more, i was under the same assumption as you rebel i thought they were a more just political party but turns out we were wrong. peace
