i strongly doubt that bin laden was responsible for the attacks on wtc and the pentagon, he denied it, a sick and twisted fuck like him would probably admit to somethimg like that if he was responsible for it. it was probably someone from his network, either the al-qaeda or the taliban who did it w/o him knowing, that's why all the evidence about the attacks seem to point to him.

Even in the very unlikely scenario that someone in his organization did this without his knowledge, it would still be:
    1) Funded by him
    2) Encouraged by his inflammatory ramblings. I think that everyone who hasn't done so already should read his two fatwas, especially the first one. I read them on the Washington Post's website...I suppose they're still there if you dig hard enough. The first one is longer, but certainly more interesting. Reading it makes you realize that as long as bin Laden has money and followers (as long as he's still alive), we won't be able to safely aid the nations of the Middle East.

Additionally, any idea how inflammatory the US and it's ramblings are around the World?
The US actively encourages cuban dissidents living in Florida to blow the shit out of Cuba.
The US' irresponsible backing of the Israeli state has lead to it's increasing arrogance and maltreatment of Palestinians.
The US has repeateadly backed Fascist dictators throughout the World.
The World cannot rest safe while the US exists, comparitive Al-Queda and Bin Laden are fluffy pink bunnies.

Speaking of Cuba and f*cked up US policy - what about the fact that a Cuban citizen who risks his/her life floating on an inner tube to Florida is offered immediate residency whilst any Cuban that wants to go through legal channels to become a US citizen must wait years.

...and please don't respond by saying 'refugee status' - this is blatant encouragement of life endangering behaviour in order to generate artificially skewed media portraying desperate Cubans floating on rafts and inner tubes to the 'freedom' loving shores of Florida - 'look what those poor Cubans have to do to escape the evil dictatorship' etc. Meanwhile, real people die attempting to take the US up on its 'noble' offer.

Could it have been orchestrated by government? never say never.

I strongly believe that if the US had evidence OTHER than the circumstantial stuff we keep hearing - 'X met Y in a bar and they both knew the brother of the cousin of bin Laden's right hand man' etc - they would produce it. There would be no strategic risk in doing so - it could only be advantageous to the US. Yet they do not.

I watched an interview with our Aus foreign affairs minister last night. He was asked whether he had seen the evidence that Tony Blair has referred to as being incontrovertible. He said 'Yes, I have seen the evidence whilst I was in Washington and it certainly links the suspected terrorists to the al Queda network - there is definite evidence that they were associates of bin Laden.' Gee - persuasive!

It looks like no one is going to insist that the US meet its burden of proof. Until they discharge this burden, no thinking person could possibly be satisfied with mere guilt by association - let alone 'hey, he's an asshole anyway, let's just slap this on him'.

Btw, a question for you all - did US authorities ever catch the person(s) responsible for the bombing at the Atlanta Olympics?

Yes, the US is the worlds TRUE rouge nation. And from the start of this i had a gut feeling that this was a inside job since right now the people who benefit off this is Dubya and his gang. The event had perfect timing and was pretty much carried out perfectly.
Note, this kind of thing if certian people in our goverment are responsible has been done before, and all of them are done during time when the ruler is unpopular or during a time of economic crisis (like the roman emperor Nero who burned rome to rally the people behind him by blaming the christians for it) and the bad thing is, it usually works.

Yes, and it's just not good enough for people to say 'But it couldn't have been the government! No way! I just don't believe it's possible!' - that is the argument from incredulity and it doesn't answer anything.

The convenience of so many aspects - strategically placed flight training manuals and pilot certificates in abandoned homes and cars. Terrorism 101.

The fact that not one caller from any of the planes identified the nationality or appearance of the hijackers - that just doesn't fit with what I think would be a natural impulse to immediately offer as much info as possible.

Why would a dedicated zealot such as bin Laden deny responsibility? That doesn't fit with his agenda at all.

Let's say (for argument's sake) that they actually have managed to uncover evidence since the attacks. We know that they couldn't have had such evidence immediately following the attacks YET the media and government immediately started mentioning bin Laden. No other suspect was raised.

He's the convenient poster child used to justify the whole range of present US foreign policy - right or wrong. Terrorism is the new communism.

This entire event is almost like its off the pages of 1984, and i thought it was bad before, just wait to is yet to come. Now with the War on Terrorism the goverment can slap the label of "terrorists" on to anyone that doesnt agree with them and thus kock out all opposition. After all, the Bush family supported and shared ideas with the Nazis during WW2.

im surprised at alot of the posts on here, i didnt know alot ofyou ad the same idea that i had, that is that america set this whole thing up. however do beleive the terrorists listedwere the ones involved, i think america basically played as double agents, they basially used the passion and of these terrorists for their own gain. funded them, trained them etc. they did this in 95, they lured a group of terrorists into a plot to blow up i beleive an embassy, and then in the end they just arrested them. same situation here except they went thru with it. peace

Yes DaNatural, that's the more realistic possibility.

While I have my doubts of this being a US plot, I do find it quite interesting that the Agency that is known best for doctoring evidence has had such wonderful success confirming CNN's initial assumption that it was bin Laden. I don't know if he did it or not, if he was responsible or not, and neither does the rest of the world (except the ones who did it and bin Laden himself), but it is quite convenient that the FBI has been so successful.
