    Default Pinochet, Chile: Aftermath

    Hi guys,

anyone here familiar with the aftermath of Pinochet's rule (not just the torture prisons, but in terms of politics, economics), like if there was any significant resistance during his rule, and if the mines and the like were privatized?

Any works you could point me at?
Links will be just fine, I'm good at looking through links.

I'm not to sure about literature on Pinochet (I'm sure there's plenty) but it's worth taking a look at John Pilger's ''The War on Democracy''. It has quite a bit on Pinochet but it also goes through most American backed coups and installed dictators in south America.

Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism has some information on the Chicago School economic shock therapies and covers a little bit on Pinochet.

IIRC, from the Shock Doctrine, the economy under Pinochet was so bad he eventually had to turn about and nationalize key resources like the banks and the copper mines.

Perhaps you can glean something of value from this:
