You have to differentiate between the bourgeois representative democracy and a proletarian representative democracy. Lenin's book State & Revolution can help you on this. Lenin said that in a capitalist society there is always a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie.
In a proletarian democracy there is alway a dictatorship of the proletariat.
