I'm sure they gave this guy trumped up charges like, " Insulting a police officer" at least that's how the NYPD would handle it. It may be inhumane to joke about something like this, but it should not be a crime! If this occured in NY, or Arkansas, or California, yea I'd say... so what, they do it all the time.... over seas, over something that occured 50 miles from my front door? That's just plain fucked up!

Was he jailed for making a joke about the WTC or was he jailed for jokingly saying he had a bomb in the airport? If he was arrested for making a joke about the WTC, I'll be the first to say that is totally ridiculous. But it is against the law (here in the U.S. at least) even to jokingly say in an airport that you have a bomb (or a gun). Many people have been arrested for that in the U.S.

This is a bit unrelated, but you mentioned FBI and I remembered something my dad was telling me over the phone last night.
My father said he has a friend at work who recently went to the doctor. Her doctor has two offices, one on Long Island and one in the WTC. (or rather he had one there). Anyway, when she went to visit him this week he told her that a few weeks ago his son sent out invitations to friends and neighbors for a birth day party. The father of a Middle eastern boy who lived down the block came by and told him they will be out of town when they have that party so his son can't make it. Then the man said, " Hey... you have an office in the WTC right? Don't go in on monday the tenth or tuseday the 11th, something big is going to happen." Well he didn't think much of it, but he just happened to work to do on Long Island, so didn't go in to the city.
After the Attack on the WTC he called the FBI who raided the house to find that the people where gone, and all the house was empty of furnishings, and everything... the just vanished.

Someone told me that there was not one Iraqui or Iranian killed in the WTC attacks, despite the representation of almost all other nations. Does anyone know how true this is?

Sounds to me like just another Urban Legend. Over here in the Uk there are always stories flying around about someone being told by an Irishman they did a favour for not to go somewhere. Does anything ever come of it? well, sometimes the police stupidly take it seriously and send in the bomb squad, but nothing ever goes off in these situations.
The story is unreliable, even if you get it off people close to you, sometimes they exxagerate something they think to be true when telling it to others so that a. they dont sound silly b. it asserts the conceived truth in their mind.
oh, and on the point of FBI/MI5 files, you can be almost certain of it. I know that certainly the MI5 keeps records of anyone even mildly associated with left wing organisations. Tony Blair even has a record because he was in a leftwing organistaion in his youth. I don't find it beyond the bounds of possibility that they monitor those that log onto this site.
As for me, I am also in left wing org's, and so i almost definately have a file.
Commiebasterd, I did read in the newspaper that the FBI did raid a house in Woodberry Long Island, where this doctor lives.... you may be right... I just thought it was strange. I do know however that there are a large number of imegrents from the Middle east in that town... so it could have been related, but then, it could have been any house.

erm its no joke MI5 are trying to get a law passed that meant that they can convistcate computer hardware if tyhey can not unencrypt e-mails for reasons of national security it is important to read them appartently this has been on for about 1 and a half years but it will pass soon i think. as for the joke things it doesn't suprise me at all the uk is turning into america we have allready killed an innocent man shooting him when they thought he had a gun when it was a cigarette lighter and to add to it guns are becoming standard issue in some forces in the country. i have been arrested before for breach of the peace when i told the local mp to stick his policies up the arse. at school i have been told that i should wear a t shirt with che guevara on it becuase i couldn't possibly understand what he was etc i have been told my political view weren't welcome when arguing with a teacher about the situation in america it sucks. so the chance of thier being a pig on the web looking for sites where people of different poitics meet and chat is not a surprise so a big FUCK YOU is in need to any potential spies
