    Default Weimarization

So I'm writing an opinion piece and I figured I'd do it on this phenomenon known as Weimarization. It has a length restraint--1,000 words. I'm not entirely sure how to go out about writing this. I want to make some statement about American political and culture life taking some obvious turns towards what Germany experienced prior to Adolf. Any ideas for like a guideline or what the structure should be? I ideally want to make some talking points about corporate influence in politics and stuff, but I am not entirely knowledgable about the German era comparisons.

We have quite a few German users here, as well as a lot of history buffs - somebody should be able to help you out in regards to the Weimar period. What my suggestion is, find a few points that you find to be parallels between the modern US and Weimar Germany - just good, strong points that you can back up.

*Hiss* Historical parallelism is bad. The USA of 2010 is not the Germany of 1933. Pointing out the odd superficial similarity will not change this and is not something I'd recommend

If you want to understand the Weimar Republic on its own terms, and it is interesting, the best single volume introduction is probably Peukert's Weimar Republic: Crisis of Modernity. I'm not sure that you'll find much there to support your thesis though
