Thos whole thing comes to the same point as all gender related topics: GENDER IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT.

There's no real reason a women should shave. A clean shaven women is just a part of the american female gender role.

What we must note is that some women prefer to be shaven, have shaven men, or trimmed. A lot of men prefer a shaven woman.

I prefer clean shaven underarms and legs, and a trimmed or shaven crotch, but if my girlfriend decided not to shave i would argue, but it wouldnt change anything...unless i found it that sexually unnattractive i couldnt have sex, in which case id be a sad panda.

KC, please stop messing with Klaatu.

Really though, if my girl asked to shave my jewels, I would say "No one, I mean NO ONE is coming near my nuts with a razor blade..."

I find any body hair other than beards and awesome moustaches to be icky.

At the end of the day, this all comes down to personal preference.

Pubes is an important and relevant issue.

They belong in the trash, not in my teeth.

I think as intellectuals that the left is supposed to be, there is nothing to suggest any particular topic to be off limits to critical inquiry.

I think that at left wing events there should be debates between intellectuals (maybe Noam Chomsky and Micheal Parenti) on whether pubes are attractive.

I like my men and women with pubes, otherwise it looks prepubescent. I also love women with armpit hair, although I don't like it on myself.
"Her development, her freedom, her independence must come from and through herself. First, by asserting herself as a personality, and not as a sex commodity. Second, by refusing the right to anyone over her body; by refusing to bear children unless she wants them; by refusing to become a servant to God, the State, society, the husband, the family, etc. ... by freeing herself from the fear of public opinion and public condemnation. Only that, and not the ballot, will set woman free, will make her a force hitherto unknown in the world, a force for real love, for peace, for harmony; a force of divine fire, of life-giving; a creator of free men and women."

I am a student working with other local activists on a project this month in parody of the cultural event known as "No Shave November" (NSN). During the month of November, participants, this instance constitutes almost entirely of men ages 18-25, grow out their facial hair and proudly parade the feat. The goal of my group, however, is to use this month to raise awareness about the image of female body hair. Society puts immense pressure on those who identify as a woman into depilatory hair removal. As a result many feel like they don't have a choice, despite various health risks that often go unmentioned and as always the unspoken impact mainstream shaving products place on the environment. So we've been encouraging women to grow out their body hair for the entire month to demystify this no choice illusion.

Men who wish to participate in this alternative have been asked to asked to do the opposite. It'd be naive and offensive of me as a guy to think this act will allow me to experience the same kind oppression women endure in society. I can however acknowledge my privilege and stand in solidarity with my comrades. This event has been a pain in the ass: finding the least destructive shaving items, waking up earlier every morning to hack away at my legs for two hours at a time, walking around with small patches I missed on my arms or chest because my glasses fog up in the shower and I can't see, etc. But I've found this all incredibly valuable to my consciousness of the overall struggle. Perhaps the gender bending aspects of this exercise are extra appealing to me, though, due to my own conflicts with patriarchy by not obliging to the typical male image. My body type simply lends itself to appearing what is considered feminine which does result in certain social reactions. For example, I constantly receive non-friendly remarks about resembling a "girl" when I sport longer hair.

Anyway, I created this thread because the topic is on my mind and I'd like to hear any other thoughts or welcome someone to philosophically riff in a post or two. Hopefully I've spiked someone's interest
I hate my body hair. I wish I could torch every folical down to the root with my lighter. So the only reason I haven't shaved my legs lately is because I have run out of razors, and like the crowd at that newport folk festival that boo'd Bob Dylan, I look down on going electric.
I dreamt of a flower that was so beautiful that when it whithered away and died a tear left my eye. I saw our births, our lives and our deaths. I felt fire paint me with pain and I felt a kiss on my lips with a knife in my neck. Love to heartbreak to self-destruction to birth and to finally learning to frolic back into the same trap with a warm smile.

Facial Feminization Surgery? I think you've got the wrong thread. I think a thread on ffs would be an interesting thread. I have friends who went through ffs.

Although I don't think female body hair is unattractive per se, at a certain point it can become a logistical problem with oral sex. I'm looking at the issue from a pragmatic perspective.

Why? What's wrong with electric razors?
