I know I'm celebrating this important historical occasion in my own way as best I could. After all, it did shape the global communist movement in a very big way and it must never be forgotten.

That song, not sure of it's name in English, is awesome. In Finnish it's called Vapaa Venäjä (Free Russia). Once we are talking about the music of the USSR, the song that still sends most shivers down my spine is the national anthem. Despite glorifying Stalin a lot (the lyrics were actually changed after his death), it was a magnificent tribute to the great victory over fascism which culminated with the fall of Berlin in 1945.
We fought for the future, destroyed the invaders,
And brought to our homeland the laurels of fame.
Our glory will live in the memory of nations
And all generations will honour her name.
In the victory parade Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov, the conqueror of Berlin, got to lead the show riding a special white horse. Later he was told by Stalin's son Vasily, that it was only because the horse had been considered aggressive and people had been afraid it might have thrown off Stalin.

The Soviet Anthem is probably one of the best pieces of Orchestrated music to ever exist. I just wish they could have transformed "The International" into that type of tune, for this would be more appropriate,
Since peoples across the world would sing this.
Many people don't know this, but Music has a huge impact on people's political views.
I know some people who became Socialists after they listened to the Red Army Choir
Paul Robeson is awsome! and his version of the Soviet anthem is one of the best.
He has also made a version of the anthem of China, its said that he knew how to speak in 20 different lenguages, thats something.
