The government of Australia wishes to express its deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences to all those innocent victims of the terrorist attacks perpetrated on the United States of America. These cowardly attacks constitute an attack not only on America, but on all democratic, peace loving nations of the World. Indeed, this is not merely a crime against humanity but an act of war. Australia is the natural ally of the United States, we share the same values, the same goals and the same unblemished history of respect for life, freedom and democracy. It is for this reason that Australia has committed itself to any course of action that the United States government feels is appropriate in this matter. That, and the fact that we have no choice anyway - we are a massive island continent with only 18 million inhabitants - we can't possibly defend our coastline from a potential invader - we have to have an alliance with the greatest military capability on Earth, just in case! Oh, and also, we have absolutely no economic power, we've privatised everything and provide no incentive for industry, how can we wield any influence on the world stage when we can't raise any revenue? - we've tried to improve our economic might through income taxes but how much can you get from only 18 million people? Being on the right side of the greatest empire the world has ever seen makes sense - think about it, they won't start any hostilities here, they'll protect us if need be - and all we have to do in return is model ourselves after them, reinforce the ideology of capitalism in our region, strive for greater and greater perpetual accumulation of wealth, let their economy dictate our standard of living, let their government dictate our foreign policy, give up any identity we may have been forming to become the 51st state of America, subscribe to their version of history and educate our children in the American way, send our citizens to fight and die for American principles, suppress our own opinion on all global political issues, vote their way at the UN, allow them to do a little nuclear 'testing' in our backyard, set up military bases on our land and hope that they will be loyal to us if we should ever need their help, like they were in East Timor and with farming tariffs that strangulated our agricultural industries ... but I digress, they were exceptional circumstances. I mean, if we ever really, really needed their support, after all we've done for them, they would be there - wouldn't they? After all, they're the good guys, they're just like us!
It cannot but be supportive, socialist, communist or whatever you want to call it. Does nature, and the human species with it, have much time left to survive in the absence of such change? Very little time. Who will be the builders of that new world? The
