    guest,

I am filled with anger after seeing those pictures, i only wish that more people could see what the U.S. is doing to other nations, so their "patriotic"citizens would think about and feel outrage for their goverment and also realize how they are viewed in the rest of world.

i am calling on the people of the US to find out to examine their goverment policies on other countries to understand how they feel and to not be blind and do as their goverment wants them to react and be manipulated against other peoples....

it's not difficult to see what drove the suicide pilots to do what they did. it's also obvious that the press is not delivering all the information within its capabilities so that people can form reasoned opinions on the crisis. the one-sided and sensationalist way in which the mainstream press is reporting on the attacks is leading to extremes of public sentiment which in turn allow the administrations of governments to persue hidden agendas which only appear to be related to the operation to capture america's "prime suspect" osama bin laden who may not have even had any direct involvement in last tuesday's attacks anyway. this link to a report in the guardian on the american administration's secret intentions to topple the taliban regime supports this:

not that im saying terrorism in anyway is right and justifiable, but if i was living in a country which the us left ravaged and caused things like this, i would hate them too.

it pisses me off so much, when people here in the u.s. are so angered at the fact other countries hate us, when they dont see stuff like this because the govnt only tells us what "good" stuff they've done in the world

Aren't you the same people complaining in another thread about people blindly believing something that plays on their emotions? Don't believe every anti-American thing you read. Children are born with severe deformities in every country- especially very poor countries but it happens even in America. Visit a March of Dimes website. This is a horrible thing to happen to ANY child no matter where they come from. You younger ones will understand when you have a child of your own.
And after the Gulf War, many of the veterans developed strange illnesses and cancers and many suspected Iraq of using chemical weapons on us. These deformities just might be the result of their own people poisoning them.
Not here to pick a fight, just telling you to look at things the way you tell others to look at things.

yes, but who initiated hostilities in the first place? it is a fact that us enforced economic sanctions against iraq are responsible for over half a million deaths.

But weren't we asked to help fight the people that Iraq were initiating hostilities toward in the first place? Is anyone not guilty? God, sometimes I think this world really sucks. But even though we hav sanctions against their gov't, don't we still send food? (maybe I'm wrong on this- correct me if I'm wrong). Going back to my post on another thread about past mistakes- I DO think it was a big mistake not to help the Iraqi people once it was over. This is one of the things I am saying we need to change when this mess is over. Why should all the poorest people continue to suffer just because their country is led by a beast.

I think I'm moving to Switzerland. I don't think they've ever pissed anyone off. And they have great cheese and good looking men. Who wants to come?

rebel, don't for one second believe that your government were entertaining one iota of moral sentiment when they went to war with iraq. america never goes to war unless there is a threat to the free market - it was because of oil pure and simple.

thousands of people died in the ensuing war, and hundreds of thousands more since as a result. before the yanks showed up on the scene, oh so valiant defenders of kuwaiti sovereignty, the iraqis had taken over relatively peacefully. the americans had no place in that part of the world and the dire consequenes of the war far outweigh the benefits.

for that matter, what do you think the might of your navy is doing in the gulf right now? are they really looking for bin laden or do they have ulterior motives? you have to ask unusual questions to get straight answers.

rebel, i understand your position and yes the u.s.a does give aid to countries but that is a small price to pay because for the most part they are the reason the country is in that trouble in the first place. i was reading noam chomsky's response to this and he mentioned how noone is paying attention to the fact that, the u.s.a has cut off all aid to afghanistan, this in turn of course makes the situation for people there even worse. how the hell does america think this will affect the taliban? same with cuba i dont think they even ship medical supplies there, just because they have a problem with the government they make the people pay, does that make sense? also, with the situation in iraq and kuwait unless im reading your statement wrong, saudi's never asked for u.s.a help in the first place america didnt go there for a gesture of goodwill but to protect their investment. peace

Don't mistake a fence-sitting hypocritical country for a 'neutral' oasis - Switzerland was quite happy to profit from vaults stuffed full of Nazi bounty for decades.

What is the difference between fence sitting hypocrisy and neutrality? You can offer support, condemnation, assistance, improvement, solutions to a situation without offering military assistance. Switzerland does nothing - it's 'neutrality' is a cop out. You cannot be a citizen of planet Earth and ignore your obligations to humanity and then attempt to claim the moral high ground.

Evil acts may be easy to detect - but evil omissions are much more difficult. Where were the US and the UN when thousands were being slaughtered in Rwanda?

Obviously, I'm not calling the Swiss Nazis. But yes, they profited from the Nazis.

Evil happens when good people do nothing. Example - the German people themselves once concentration camps became common knowledge in Germany. Not to mention all the goose-steppers in general.

As for 'all countries are guilty of something' - that is not an argument for anything except that no one has the right to claim moral superiority. If they all remembered their own offences, there might be a little humility in this world.

Frankly Drifter, even implying in jest that I am 'buying into the against us or with us attitude' offends me more than you can appreciate.

    Rebel 7609:
These deformities was caused by weapons that the U.S. brought with them. The same thing might have happened in Cosovo. But I know Saddam is a goose.

Please forgive me for any offence caused,,
    the point is though,,
that helping one side is not the "right' thing to do in every case, The british were just as bad as the germans ever were, so were the french,
how should things be 'improved', mucking about with the best intentions can also make things worse.

Everyone is big on saying what shouldn't be done,,
what do think is the correct acttion for the west to take?
