Una Carta Abierta a los Trabajadores de los United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE) y del Frente Auténtico del Trabajo (FAT)

Cuando el Tratado del Libre Comercio amenazó nuestros sustentos, ustedes mostraron el camino a la formación de la Alianza Estratégica de Organización … un esfuerzo transnacional que inspiró a otros a moverse de los sindicatos nacionales a los realmente internacionales.

En el siglo 21º , ahora vemos un nuevo modelo del socialismo (o sea, la autoobtención de poder de los trabajadores vía la democracia económica) surgiendo en Venezuela, con la aparición de la UNT socialista, por una parte, y la explosión de consejos comunales, por la otra (que se organizan en comunas).

Ahora la Alianza Estratégica de Organización debe desempeñar un papel más eficaz del proyecto de la autoobtención de poder obrero en el siglo 21º:

1) Enviar una delegación de la Alianza Estratégica de Organización a Venezuela para estudiar la relación entre la UNT y los consejos comunales, comunas, etc;
2) Invitar la UNT a afiliarse a la Alianza Estratégica de Organización;
3) Explorar la relación entre sindicatos y cooperativas obreros (como del modelo de la Corporación Cooperativa Mondragon del País vasco, España) a fin de vincular los enlaces del raigambre del poder obrero por todo el mundo.

Compañ[email protected], el movimiento para construir el socialismo del siglo 21º debe que moverse concretamente fuera de Venezuela: ¡venceremos juntos!

An Open Letter to the Workers of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE) and the Frente Auténtico del Trabajo (FAT)

When the North American Free Trade Agreement threatened our livelihoods, you led the way in forming the Strategic Organizing Alliance…a transnational effort that has inspired others to move from national to truly international unions.

In the 21st Century, we now see a new model of socialism (that is to say, workers’ self-empowerment via economic democracy) emerging in Venezuela, with the emergence of the socialist UNT, on the one hand, and the explosion of community councils, on the other (which are being organized into communes).

It is time for the Strategic Organizing Alliance to become a more effective part of the workers’ project to empower themselves in the 21st Century:

1) Send a Strategic Organizing Alliance delegation to Venezuela to study the relation between the UNT and the community councils, communes, etc;
2) Invite the UNT to join the Strategic Organizing Alliance;
3) Explore the relation between unions and worker-owned cooperatives (such as the model offered by the Mondragon Cooperative Corporation of the Basque Country, Spain) in order to link the roots of workers’ power worldwide.

Comrades, it is time that the movement to build socialism in the 21st Century moved concretely beyond Venezuela: together, we can win!
