Oh my god, this story is sickening. They live like prisoners.

Sex workers in Bangladesh, some as young as 12, are putting their health at risk by taking a drug to make themselves fatter so they are more attractive to clients. Their madams feed them steroids also used to make cows gain weight

It's stories like this that make me hope, although I'm not a Maoist(in an orthodox sense at least), that the Maoists will sweep across the whole of South Asia-there would be a lot of justice to it. The level of exploitation, poverty and suffering in the subcontinent defies belief.

.... this reminds me of what the ancient leader of the far right in france said, some people wake up and wonder how they are going to manage to eat today, and some other people wake and wonder how they are going to manage to lose some weight.

i don't think he cared that much about poverty or starvation but i still like what he said.
