I saw on a website that claimed that the communist manifesto had caused more death than any other piece of literature.

    I thaught about this carefully

Then thought that if countries that were Nazis like Russia and China (I'm writing an essay for my website to show how Stalin and Mao contradicted communism and were infact Nazis based on their Army and Industrial policies which they claimed were for the workers eg National Socialist Workers Party.) Then if Marx can be blamed for them then I was thinking that at least 2 other pieces of literature have caused even more death.

    The Bible

    The Koran

I call these both to mind because of the Crusades, Witchburnings, Jew Killings, Massecre of the Aztecs and Incas, The 30 years war, The reformation and a host of other things can be linked to the bible

The Koran has incited a similar amount of death with the fundamentalist ragimes plaguing the middle east, Jihads and several acts of terrorism, Infact the Koran can be describes as being responsible for a vast amount of death.

I however do not consider either of these pieces of literature, their teachings or their writers to be evil. I believe that the bible and the koran are teachings on how people should live their lives not as teachings of oppression and persectution, Indeed The Koran says "Let there be no violence in Religion".

Likewise Karl Marx did not write "go and kill all the capitalists and anyone who disagrees with me" Instead he said "I think this is the best way for a country to run."

However the western conservative media still says that Karl Marx is evil and The Bible is good when the bible has caused a lot more deaths and like the Manifesto didn't intend to.

Mosketto... I have to reply in two parts.... Firstly, they first part of what you said is a bit confusing... Communism and toliterianism are two diffrent things Communism is an economic system while the armies of the USSR where totoliterian. Therefore it is a mistake to say that communism caused all those deaths/war/pain/etc... it's an economic system, and it's Totoliterianism that caused it and which links it to Fascism.

Secondly... you are correct the Communist Manifesto has only been in existance since 1848 but the Bible, and later the Koran have been in existance for 2000 years and have been the cause of numerous crusades... even one "childerens Crusade" where German children marched to the Middle east and quickly became slaves. We must not forget the barberous acts commited in the name of religion... Holy wars being fought between Protistants and Catholics... Jews and Pagans being put to death in the spannish inquisition... and the horrors of the witch hunts... In fact... "Malithicus Malificarum" or "Witch's Hammer" is the cause of expert witch hunters to roam around Europe looking for witches. Some town in Germany where left with no women after the witch hunters passed through.

i think you are right on all those points moskitto.

but the fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter how many nuts come around and use a specific book to justify their crazy actions, whether that book be the communist manifesto, the bible, or the koran. none of these books preached these actions themselves. in the end, the people just used the books as an excuse. the books didn't give rise to the people.

I think the biggest problem is that nobody questions the books once they belong to that religion...a cristian is not going to question the bible, a muslim the koran, or some communist the party they belong...thats the problem, when you dont have different oppinions and you only listen to one book, person, priest,whatever...you become an integrist, facist,radical...lets measure things please...
