Default President Barack Obama

I was wondering, does anyone on here have any respect for this man? He promised much, and has delivered little (apart from that Healthcare "Reform").

Bush 2.0: darker tan, different party, better rhetoric.

The man pacified an otherwise restless population with his rhetoric about change. It's appalling to see so many people on the "left" defend him.

Bush 2.0: darker tan, different party, better rhetoric.
Clinton 2.0: Admitted New Democrat, staffed his cabinet with the same people as the Clinton Administration.

And Clinton isn't Reagan. Does that mean he's worth any sort of support at all? No, it doesn't.

Obama is just a typical President at the Capitalist's service.

He's a closet socialist who wants to fundamentally transform America and everything it stands for. He's a big fan of Franz Fanon, Saul Alinsky and the Weather Underground.

Just don't tell anyone.

I agree, he's much better looking than McCain.

He is ambitious and disingenuous, a true politician. I haven’t met any dedicated leftists who don’t realize exactly what he is, the leader of the largest corporation on earth. Nowadays however, the U.S. isn’t only the employer of last resort but the investor too.

Even then, before he was president, I don't think any leftists did support him. He is not even that liberal. Like previously mentioned, he is simply Clinton 2.0

He didnt support universal healthcare, he doesn't support gay-marriage, he supports war on terror, he supports Keynesian economics, etc.
...What is there to like about him? Even my social democrat friends were hesitant to vote for him!

I think you are a bit unfair to him. After all, he ran as a centrist "reconciliator". Those who saw him as a leftist were deluding themselves and ignoring what he actually was saying. For example, it was a campaign promise of his to escalate the war in Afghanistan, it wasn't like it was any surprise.

The main problem of Obama is that he's actually seen as too much of a leftist by the independents, who increasingly are turning towards the opposition for the midterm elections.

I never saw him as a leftist. I was actually listening.

The same did I.

The main problem in the USA which is making a leftist president or congress politically impossible is a FPTP system which is rewarding conservative rural communities at the expense of urban communities. Besides, parliamentarian left-wing movements have problems everywhere in the west right now.

"Yes, America wants you to be free... as long as the choices offered can in no way effect real change or threaten the status quo. For all the lip service being paid by our candidates for the need to change, it looks like Business As Usual here in America."

- Bill Hicks (October 31, 1992)

So nothing new. Still, though, am I the only one who preferred Bush's rhetoric? I mean, they're both generally incredibly dull, but at least Bush could be amusing at times, albeit generally unintentionally.
