Clockwork Orange (Why? because it is anti-fascist)

Lawrence of Arabia (Details how a man transcended the limits that western British culture imposed on him and like Che he was a revolutionary who tried to kick the imperialistic British out of the Arab countries. He also derailed a train like Che.)

    http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_review.../03/344259.html

Salvador (Details U.S. aggression toward Latin America and the heroic rebels who put up a fight. Yeah. Fuck Yeah! Despite the Reagan administration contributing a million dollars a day to the Salvadoran military they still could not defeat the rebellion) http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_review...6/04/55272.html

Spartacus (Unlike that very poor movie Gladiator this one shines because of the rebellion that the slaves/gladiators waged against an oppressive Roman state) http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_review.../05/647968.html

Malcolm X (Yeah. Fuck yeah! One of the great revolutionaries ever that needs no further explanations) http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_review.../11/790018.html

    http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_review.../03/968117.html

Apocalypse Now (Details Yankee aggression against Vietnam in one sentence, "Charlie don't surf!" Mother fucking lunatic that Kilgore. Now they have come out with the Director's Cut which is about an hour longer than the original.)

    http://www.suntimes.com/output/ebert1/redux10f.html

The Shawshank Redemption (Shows how patience and determination can serve to good purpose)

    http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_review.../09/941998.html

The Filth and the Fury (Need I say more?)

you want a good, no great revolutionary/anti-fascist movie watch Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator." and go to this site:

    http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Screen/...s/dictator.html

...to hear the famous speech at the end.

also to the effect of shawshank, watch "papillion" with steve mcqueen

and of course "the battleship potemkin" by the great sergei eisenstein. (believe this movie was commissioned by lenin. i may be wrong.)

    my movie picks:

fight club (tyler durden says that corporate america has brainwashed the common man, that they will grow up to be movie stars and celebrities just so they will by whatever is marketed to them, tyler durden and the members of fight club remedy this by leveling the entire financial disrict of some major american city they didn't really specify)

milagro beanfield war (small town of mexican working class stands up to a company that opened a resort near their town, they start by diverting the resort's water supply to plant their beanfields.)

My pick would be Mutiny on the Bounty. Any version will do. Whether you like the Clark Gable, Marlon Brando, or
Mel Gibson versions they all represent the conditions of the ship as a microcosm of the class system in a corporate/capitalist-dominated society.

an extremely interesting (but altogether badly made) movie is scarface (the second one with al pacino). made in the 80's it is extremely anti-castro/communist/cuba/etc. the "hero" tony montana never misses an opportunity to talk down about cuba and praise the "freedom" of the U.S. of course in the end he's the one who turns into a coke-head, and is killed because of his capitalist greed. it has some interesting concepts about power and the politics of the u.s. during and after the revolution as well as that of the 80's

There's a movie called Bread and Revolution, about a workers strike among minority workers at a factory. Take a look if you get the chance.

    Check out Warren Beatty's "REDS"
Fairly accurate representation of the founding of the US Communist Party and the Russian Revolution as seen through the eyes of John Reed ("Ten Days that Shook the World)and Louise Bryant.
Fairly good representations of Emma Goldman, Max Eastman and (in a non-speaking role) Lenin.
    Fun and touching.

    For the avant-garde check out Bertoluci's "1900"

María, you register by clicking on the "Register" icon where it is right beside "profile." Then you click on "I agree" (after you have read the "Terms and Conditions of Service" of course!) Then you have to fill out some information. Yet don't be dismayed when you see stuff like "Homepage," "AOL" Name," etc. Skip all that and enter the pertinent info. You have to have an e-mail to receive your private password, though.

it is very interesting that two very good and anti british imperialism movies, "Ghandi" and "Lawrence of Arabia," are both british movies.

"Reds" by Warren Beatty is not a bad movie at all, I think.

Economists have provided capitalists with a comforting concept called the "free market." It does not describe any part of reality, at any place or time. It's a mantra conveniently invoked when it is proposed that government do something the faithful don't like, and just as conveniently ignored whenever they want government to do something for them.
