No, they don't have a point. Get them out of the way and make music free for everyone, and with it bread, a home and education. Making music shouldn't be considered a job anyways, it always ends up as some kind of mainstream-shitfest of crappy bands

A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.
other than them being pirates they dont know shit about politics nor economics. A kids party, seriously
Yeah i was already familiar with the Pirate Party ( they've got seats in the Swedish Parliment ).

The more file sharing that goes on, the more profit they get. Simple as that.
They want to impose limitations through the law or stop file sharing altogether because it is costing them hundreds of millions of dollars that could have spent with you buying their stuff.
I hate to say it, but it's only a matter of time b4 the capitalist class figures out how to make money off file sharing.

Just to clarify, in the first line, "they" means us benefiting from sharing great software.
They obviously want to stop file sharing for the above reasons, and because it's also costing them a shitload of money to get a lawyer and whole legal team, for the proceedings.
Not to sound sympathetic to the rich music artists, but by stealing their songs aren't we exploiting their labour? I know you couldn't really call it labout but you get the pircture.
Nothing is being stolen. You make it sound as if a file, which can be replicated infinitely, could possibly be "owned" by a person. Furthermore, how is it stealing" if the file we download was never in their possession in the first place?

The artist did take alot of time into creating the song, so why shouldnt we credit and reward them for their work?
It kind of moots supply and demand. There is an infinite amount of files, yet iTunes still sells them ¢99, and they aren't withholding any as in the diamond industry, so why do we still pay.
Kind of an unfinished thought, but it's curious.
