    I don't see why not. Personally I think gambling's a mug's game.

I can't see how anything but capitalism would be banned in a post-revo society because there will be no state to enforce a ban anyway.

And as there will be no money, what would be gambling for? Those labor vouchers?

If you mean "during a night with you," yes.

If you mean "for a night with you," no.

I don't think there'd be too much of an incentive to gamble in a post-capitalist society, except for the thrill of the game, which can be accomplished without the exchange of value. We have to avoid transplanting our capitalist notions of value and commodity accumulations to a communist society.

Unfortunately, the capitalist manifestation of gambling, specifically state lotteries, take away a lot of money from some of society's poorest in the hope they'll get rich.

Gambling is a capitalist way of earning money.
Gambling in communism should have a 100% outcome rate. So if 10 people put 10 chairs in, those 10 chairs would be given out to people too. If the 'gamble overseers' keep some for themselves, that wouldn't be what we want.

Since everyone would have freedom it shouldn't be restriced to gamble with friends, like poker, but no people should make money off of gambling.

So, casinos wouldn't be allowed now would they.

There could be gambling games being played such as poker because even just the games are fun. Some people play these games not because they want the money, but because they just enjoy getting out there and playing cards.

If you are gambling to make money you are an idiot. It is done for excitement. If you put a tenner on a horse the race is going to be very exciting. if you win, fantastic, if not, you still got a real adrenaline rush. People need to remember that before criticising gambling. Anyway, it should be legal.

I support private gambling. Commercial gambling -- horse racing, dog racing, and slot machines -- are one of the scourges of the working poor.

The working poor? Could this be the naissance of class consciousness chez moi? Quelle horreur!

Seriously though, I live near the world's 1st and 3rd largest Casinos, it sucks the community dry, and fills the streets with rich New Yorkers.

    We get goddamn leafers too.

Sure, it will make the debate more exciting.

Seriously though, a bet really can make things fare more interesting. I love Snooker for instance and love watching the matches, but what makes them even more exciting is if I have a bit of money riding on them. Nothing bank breaking or anything, just enough to buy a few drinks if I win. The point of the bet is the fun of it and with Snooker matches lasting such a long time you get quite a long period of excitement.

Correct, which is why you should use your seniority, energy and considerable intelligence to disabuse your junior colleagues of the "advantages" of eliminating money.
You don't really want to live in an egalitarian society in which you can no longer win money on a snooker match, do you?

And while we're on the subject of your vices, why don't you learn a nice American cue sport, like 9-ball

, instead of snooker, which has all those commie-colored RED balls? Or did I just answer my own question?

    Sorry dude.

Where is the spirit of communal sharing in gambling? Simply consider that the chief motivation for gambling is selfish greed.

I don't mind gambling games like Poker as long as it isn't commercialised but I HATE Poker Machines. You have to be a fucking moron to get addicted to those things no matter what class you come from I have ZERO respect to anyone who gets addicted to them.
