The queen of salsa has died today. She died in her New Jersey home from a brain tumor.

    Adios querida celia
Adios a la sonrisa de una mujer tan bella
    Adios a una voz unica
"We have no tradition in our culture for showing respect to anything sexual. We don't promote erotic education. Our health care establishment barely has a clue about our sexual bodies. Our political system finds sex to be a fine whipping boy. The gossips and preachers are our typical sex advisers, and their tone is usually damning, rarely daring."---pg. 13, Full Exposure, Susie Bright.

A good martial artist is like water.
    Why?, because water is insubstancial.
By that I mean you cant grab water you cant punch it and hurt it.
So be soft like water and be flexible, be formless, shapeless like water.
Now you put water in a cup it becomes a cup
    the water can flow
    the water can crash
    be water my friend..

Shame she fled Cuba with Matamoros after the revolution. Musically though, yeah - first lady of salsa...

Ironicley most Cubans of our generation have never heard of her...

I am sad to hear that she died. I would have to say my favorite song of hers was "Carnival". How about you, comrades? What is your favorite song by Celia?

    Muere lentamente quien no viaja,

    quien no lee,

    quien no escucha música,

quien no halla encanto en sí mismo.

    Muere lentamente

    quien destruye su amor propio;

    quien no se deja ayudar.
