What is this exactly and why is it restricted?

The human species doesn't seem to develop and equilibrium with its environment- it dominates everything, consumes all resources, and multiplies. Primitivists are betting that industrial society, despite how it is run politically, will inevitably shorten the life expectancy of the species. They want to hit the 'reset' button. I sympathize with them in this respect. I would love to see mankind turned back into its original heathen state. 'Modern' man is despicable, in my opinion.
Kijuna, read Teddy's manifesto (the unibomber). There are some weak arguments and some strong arguments in it.
they want to want to abolish all technology more advanced than a bow and arrow and agriculture and go back to hunter gathering.

The Anarchist FAQ
Basically,
The primitivist is objecting primarily to the following things:
1) The destruction of the natural world, which s/he blames on industrialization.
2) The overpopulation of the planet.
3) The collective results of these two phenomena.
The primitivist blames industrialization due to the developments which allow human beings to consume more, live longer, etc... which the primitivist then claims result in the destruction and overpopulation of the planet.
Primitivists are restricted because a revolutionary leftist outlook reveals a materialist approach to society. Hence the leftist sees that industrialization is a necessary development in humanity, allowing it to reach new technological movements which improve the quality of life of human beings. Given that the leftist is concerned primarily with the quality of life of the working class, opposing industrialization on the grounds stated above runs contrary to the concerns of the leftist.
The leftist will also note the incoherent nature of the primitivist's argument, as well as oversimplification of the situation as a whole.
Hope that helps.

If we have no business with the construction of the future or with organizing it for all time, there can still be no doubt about the task confronting us at present: the ruthless criticism of the existing order, ruthless in that it will shrink neither from its own discoveries, nor from conflict with the powers that be.

I've read John Zerzan, but I can barely remember him. I sympathize with their critique of technology, particularly man's technical mastery of himself in a Heideggerian sense. I think, however, primitivism's a tad simplistic posing a "rewilding" or return to Eden in some sort of Abrahamic "postcivilization" narrative. A lot of unjustified assumptions too about the health and happiness of "primitive man." Talk about generalizations. Finally, it's totally unworkable barring nuclear catastrophe, in which case the earth would be f*cked anyways.
