If Camilo Cienfuegos hadn't died so early into the Cuban Revolution.Do you think he would have become as big as CHE????

No, he didn't share Che's Marxist internationalism beliefs.

Indeed, there is no doubt that Camilo was a hero of the Revolution and continues to be a legend and a hero. I was simply stating that I do not believe that he would have become "as big as Che" had he not been killed in that plane crash.

I agree with thursday. Indeed, we have to remember Camilo and Che were all the time teasing each other, in a very personal and exclusive way, which I think means they not only went along really fine, but that they understood and appreciated each other a lot. This kind of situation wasn´t common in Che´s life at all, as we all know, and that´s another reason why I myself value Camilo Cienfuegos a lot.

i think camilo would have become to che as fredreich was to marx.

they would have been inseprable, both of them would have gone to boliva together and after Che's death Camilio would have taken over his post and have gotten a new batch of guerillas, if he could have survived it.

Some people don't need it so complicated!!!Some people just need a "Libertador"!!!Most people in south America didn't see 'CHE' as a communist, marxist or Leninist!!!They saw him as a 'Revolucionario'!!!They needed someone to fight for them 'an Image' a 'warrior'!
That's why i think Camilo could have been a "CHE"!!!A pure Guerrillero a Liberator!!!!Camilo es un sinónimo de cubanía

Well i reckon that camilio was as important as che as a gurillea fighter especially as a member of the 26th July movement. However Camilio was also che's closest friend during the early days wasn't he?

i have no idea who he is. but cienfuegos is the name of a city in cuba. does Camilo have something to do with incident of 1,957? in that year some rebels along with rebeling naval officers took over the naval base in cienfuegos. did he died in that action?

Cienfuegos died a few years later, because of an airplane crash that didn´t look at all as an accident. By then, the Revolution was getting its very first steps, and Batista was already out of Cuba.

Turdsday? what are you saying? I don't care for marx so what? What does he have to do with making Che great?
I personally find myself in rebellion against the fate that history seems to have in store for us, and I suspect that some of you may be equally rebellious. The question is, what can you do? --Leo Szilard, \"Are We On The Road To War?\" Nov 17, 1961

FYI: Che named his eldest son after Camilo Cienfugos. Can you just imagine what Che and Camilo would've done together had Camilo lived a bit longer? Jesus! If Camilo would have gone to Bolivia, Che might still be alive.

I agree Yerba. Camilo is also a hero in Cuba and I think him dying like that was such a *****... what happened to his plane? Well, I know what happened, but they never find anything, did they? Was it just an accident or they have no idea?

They never found any wreckage or anything. It was whispered for a time that Fidel had arranged the crash because Camilo was getting a little too popular. Most people don't believe that though. It really makes no sense if you think about it. Why would Fidel have wanted to kill Camilo because of his popularity, but not wanted to harm Che who was even more popular than Camilo? Whatever happened, it is too bad. Camilo would have no doubt contributed to future revolutions.

Well Tete--- from what I've gathered, the plane crash is one of those unsolved mysteries. I don't think anything was found--- if there was, it was very little. Likely a very tragic, unfortunate accident. It sucks that Camilo fought so hard in the Revolution, only to die so soon afterwards. There isn't much that I've read on Che's emotions after his death, but he must have been so sad.
Well, they are together now---influencing us all by their spirits! Viva la Revolucion!!!!!!
