(i hope this hasn't been posted already.....)

i'm not completely aware of everything about this, but was his killing of prisoners without a fair trial justified at all? isn't that in a way what we're fighting against? take Mumia for instance, we get all worked up about not having a fair trial. i expect to hear some answers like 'it was for the revolution' and 'it has to be done' i think both of those answers are bullshit, please offer a more educated answer

Why is it bullshit to do so for the revolution? Isn't that what we're for? The revolution? If a traitor was revealing information, and causes a great threat to the revolution...One man should not be able to destroy a revolution of the million.

accually CHE did have fair trials for the prisoners. in fact he got all the civilians to be the jury. so there were fair trials since it was the ppls voices that concluded guilty or innocent.

and to comrade junichi, if they werent givin fair trials how would you know if they're giving out information or whatever there stand is?

Unfortunately, as the saying goes "All Is Fair in Love and War!" Maybe it doesn't make much sense yet it's the judgement of passion. Man may know his destiny yet his fate lies in the hands of another.

Watch the movie "The Prince of Darkness." Its about Dracula and his life in Romania (i think). The man had deep moral convictions yet his desire to help the oppressed left him to battle the oppressor.

This movie does a good job of presenting the great conflict that man deals with when he aspires to do good.

It takes a brave heart to stand up against the evils of man because one runs the risk of becoming the "oppressor" themself.

well, you must have read wrong. in jon lee anderson's book "CheGuevara: a revolutionary life" it says that he got the ppl from the towns to be the jury. it might have been unfair because the ppl were very discriminative towards the batistan soilders. of course you would do the same if you had the chance to get back at the soildiers who beat them and mistreated them for so long.

oh i believe you, i've read the unjust trial's, from two different sources, first one i can't recall, but the second one was from Time, so i definitely believe that it put something false out

i see that the point you are raising is a valid however i think he was so intent on making cuba a better place. he had to be ruthless or the revolution would have been at stake

Even if CHE didn't give a fair trial to the counter revolutionarys It wasn't without reason because the prisoners did a lot of killing in their time.An other good reason for this is to make an example of them so nobody else gets ideas and toshow the world that the revolution isn't weak.

so the trials were unfair because he was not an elected official of the government or was it because he executed people without evidence? someone told him to kill those men, i bet.

At the end of the day the ultimate question remains"Is an idea of greater value than human life?".Doesnt the spirit of a true humanity demand the suppression of petty self-interest for the common good?Doesnt justice decree accountability for treason among all other social crimes?Revolution is a declaration of war and war isnt a scientific game ... its an act of violent aggression and in the aftermath of revolution there is a continuing form of agression by means of trial and execution of political enemies and all counterrevolutionaries within the camp of the victors as well as without. In the process of social revolution the sword will fall on the neck of ones own brother if he is exposed as a traitor. The Christians cling to a theology which advocates the death of a righteous man for the sake of humanity,as a Socialist I prefer the idea of sacrificing corrupt men for the good of society. As humans we possess the faculty of discernment and as free agents wielding such mental powers we are ultimately responsible for every conscious decision we make in our interactions with the social community and no man must be exempt of the disciplinary gavel of a peoples tribunal.

wouldn't it be a more sophisticated way though if it was 'scietific'? using intelligence instead of brute force. say that you find a way to kill the top generals or maybe even the man in chrage. it's not hard to predict how the rest of the country would fall. this is a much better way to go about it then killing all of the insignificant people.

ratm545 says,"say that you find a way to kill the top generals or maybe even the man in charge. it's not hard to predict how the rest of the country would fall, this is a much better way to go about it than killing all of the insignificant people." ... my relpy to this is quite simple ... oftentimes insignificant people can do significant damage.

yes, war is like a game of chess. you get rid of the ponds and you have a clearer shot at the king. of course it is good to get the queen, but only if yoiu have the clear shot, dont try to go looking for her, she usually is being guarded by ponds.

It was the Bolivian and CIA Green Berets, if I recall correctly.

This topic reminds of the People's Trials in China, where the peasants in a particular area would act as the jury and decide on the punishment. I can't remember though whether it was the people or Mao's forces who enforced the punishments.

If its obvious that the person revealed information to the enemy. why waste time on those fucking slimebags by giving them a trial. They probally caused the death of several of his comrades.

More proof of Che's stalinist nature. This all sounds like the Moscow "Show" Trials. good for che... rid the earth of such scum. The funny thing is, you are all willing to forgive che, yet, none of you forgive stalin. Hypocrites..
