    Default Numbers question

(If this thread is not the sort that belongs here feel free to boot its bum elsewhere)

Im interested in finding out how many members there are in the various communist parties, movements and organisations around the world, and here in the UK.
(organisation by organisation, country by country style)
If like me you are not very connected to such info, A simple estimate of the numbers of members in the party/group you belong to will help, all peices make the jigsaw.

Seats held by communists in various governments, councils, international bodies etc.

I know such figures can often be the subject of doubt but im not after the exact amount.

Just as of 2009, memberships of groups around the world.

Also vote shares in countries would be interesting too.

And if I can be cheeky, membership numbers of Unions who share the bulk of communist ideals, names of union, country and estimated numbers of members.

Many thanks for any input, ive no real motive for the info except im researching the situation of the struggle as it stands, quite what good that will do, only time will tell but at the very least I suspect this information will be interesting to many.

JammyDodger -- very few leftwing parties publish membership numbers (and even when they mention these, what counts as a 'member' is also unclear). The reason often given is that it would give too much away to their enemies; make of that what you will.

Membership numbers of unions are easier to ascertain; I am sure a Google search will reveal them.

Anyway, this would normally be posted in 'Practice':

There you will find a relatively up-to-date list of organisations:

Can a mod move this, please?

    Default Japan

Cheers will keep that in mind will need to dig deep.

I will admit my ignorance but in doing a little look around on the web, I had no idea the Japanese Communist party was so large, according to the following link they are Japans fourth largest party with 415,000 members.
The link is from 2008 and basically from a site thats hates communism.
I dont know if its fortunes have gone down or up since but according to the artcle they were gaining up to 1000 new members a week at the time if its true.

You can find many election results on Wikipedia. Just make sure to check the sources listed to verify.

Membership numbers of leftist groups are smaller, but usually can be ascertained with a little research (online and "real world").

BTW, the info on the JCP is true. Unfortunately, the JCP does not advocate revolution but instead wants to reform capitalism.
