Does anybody know if Che Guevara were a cold-blooded terrorist, funded by the Soviet Union?
I'm not saying this is bad, I just want to know if this is true.
Proof would be helpful, and I'd prefer a web-article rather than a book-reference.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, but I would like to have some proof (even a link).

BTW, I've accidently posted in the wrong forum. Can someone (an admin/moderator) please move this to the Q&A section. Thanks again!

Che wasn't exactly pro Russia. His hero was Mao and he sided with the chinese during the sino-soviet split. So I doubt the USSR was funding someone who was speaking out against them.

Cuba's increasing co-operation with the Soviet Union made his position increasingly shaky. He was accused of Maoism (the Sino-Soviet split was at its height) and Trotskyism. Castaneda reports that Che's Russian-Spanish interpreter was actually a KGB agent assigned to spy on him.

In his Algiers speech, Che called into question the true nature of Soviet relations with the Third World. The rupture is confirmed. "Che now knew that he was a handicap to Fidel in his relationship with the Soviets," writes Anderson (p. 677). He had to leave.

As early as his December 1960 visit to China, Che praised the Chinese revolution as an example for Cuba, something that irked his USSR sponsors at a time when a rupture was in the making between Moscow and Peking.

Indeed the only Chinese technicians in Cuba were those attached to Che’s ministry and Che gave jobs to people who had lost theirs as a result of PSP purges. As Minister of Industry he rapidly became disillusioned with the poor quality of USSR technical aid and equipment. From his first trip to the USSR he was shocked and annoyed at the level of material privileges of the Russian bureaucracy and in 1964 he called Russia a "pigsty" because of the conditions it kept the workers in.

Not the actions of a soviet sponsored terrorist I think.

Man's dearest possession is life, and since it is given to him to live but once.He must so live that dying he can say, all my life and all my strength have been given to the greatest cause in the world, the liberation of mankind
    Ostrovski

    Muriel Spark:

If I had my life to live over again I should form the habit of nightly composing myself to thoughts of death. I would practice, as it were, the remembrance of death. There is no other practice which so intensifies life. Death, when it approaches, ought not to take one by surprise. It should be part of the full expectancy of life. Without an ever-present sense of death life is insipid. You might as well live on the whites of eggs.

he wasn't for sure!! like all the communists, the USSR was considered the hoped-for-utopia to che at the beginning of his life. but as time went by he changed his ideas about the soviet union. during his visit to the soviet union, che was invited by a soviet official to dinner. eating his meal on the finest french porcelain, che turned to his host and sarcastically quipped: "so, the proletariat here eats off french porcelain, eh?" che "was much too much a literal marxist for the russians." che who believed in that kind of perfect communist society was astonished by the soviet policies, so he used to criticize the ussr. in the Algiers speech, che described the ussr as a "tacit accomplice of imperialism." such successive critiques made che a "thorn in the side of the soviet conformists." i believe that the policies of the ussr, which were accepted by castro, were the main reasons of che's decision to undertake the bolivian misadventure.

unfortunatelly, i can't help u to find an article. all the information included in my post is from:

everyday i become more and more astonished by how powerful the israeli propaganda is?? Hizballah slaughtered the israelis who were (and still) OCCUPYING HIS LAND. have u ever heard about the word RESISTANCE?? do u expect them to watch the israeli troops occupying thier land and bombing their cities while they do nothing?? THE GUERRILLAS OF HIZBALLAH R HEROS WHO WERE ABLE TO LIBERATE THEIR LAND FROM THE OCCUPATION. i don't understand how can u be a leftist while supporting the israeli imperialism??!!
concerning the lebanese christians, i think that u have totally wrong info. the lebanese christians u r talking about used to work as clients to the occupiers(the israelis) and participated in almost every massacre against the palestinian refugees and even against lebanese citizens.

if u want to talk about slaughtering innocent people, why don't u mention the massacre of QANA. i don't know if u heard about it. a hundred of innocent civilians were slaughtered in a UN shelter in lebanon by the israeli missiles. if u don't have a weak stomach, i can send u some photos from the massacre!

Please, dear compañera Hizballah, try to put your texts to a smaller bits, if I may ask. Reading those are killing my eyes.

Forgive me, I just wanted to say that.
