Trust me, after all the guitar "playing" I've done, the guitar gods would've already smited me if they'd wanted to. Although, they might've been the force that made me smash myself in the mouth with my guitar.

talent wise, i have to say, with no thought necesary: hendrix all the friggin way. without question. also sheer pleasure to listen to: hendrix all the way. no doubt

but as far as message and lyrics, it's marley.

PCE said exactlly what I would have said.. hmmm.. I'm a big fan of both. However listening to Jimi also brings back childhood memories of summers visiting my hippie aunt and uncle who would blast tracks like "Machine Gun" so loud that it shook the house.

    Definately Marley
There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror... --- Mark Twain

both are incomparable. Although, Jimi Hendrix changed music forever, moreso I think than Bob Marley.

Peter Tosh-more political+druggie than both. But still a top drawer musician.
Back to the choice though,Hendrix just shades it for me.But only just.

Man you can't compare these two guy's. They both did great things for their style of music. If can say who was a better muscian, but not who's better. They both are equally awsome.

No question. Hendrix was much better. Marley has his place among the stoners but I can't stand his music when I'm sober. He was definitely influential and had a lot of great songs but he isn't my type personally. I like rock and guitar solos as opposed to hip hop rasta reggae.
