I recently bought hendrix's Electric Lady land. Man that album is like on of the best albums I've ever heard. I liked Hendrix before but theres just something about his music now thats deep. Why he was considered rock I don't know, alot of his stuff sounded like blues

Hendrix rocks... most rock came from blues anyway, if you look at a lot of the bands around that time they had a lot of blues elements.

He is by far one of the greatest guitar players ever.

    Making up the Holy Trinity:

    Hendrix, Page, Clapton.

Jimi lives....well,at least whenever I listen to him.

Years ago a friend had a dodgy rcording of just him and his guitar, playing in some small club somewhere.Mainly blues, the recording was awful.Like listening to someone playing underwater, but his brilliance still shone through. What a man!

Im weird, i know i am, but a good guitarist doesnt always mean good music. Some of his stuff is ok, some is good, some is bad; but just because the man could play guitar he is called a God.

    MJM,

I meant Clapton during the Cream period. Afterward just got too soft rock for me.

Hendrix is one of the best guitarists of all time. But he was an awful singer.

your kidding. There are different types of singing you know. He sounded like a blues singer, and a very good one at that

And to Zippy, yes he was known for his great guitar playing skills but that isn't the only reason people like him. his lyrics were incredible and he was a great composer

    Are You Experienced?

    Electric Ladyland

    Axis: Bold as Love

these are all the cds i have of him, however the Hendrix movie offered great insight of what his messages were.

His best song was written by Bob Dylan, so his lyrics arent that amazing. But all music is relevant to opinion - you can have yours and i shall hold mine.

His best song of all time, in my opinion, was 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be).

Warning: Never listen to 1983 stoned and on acid while watching random muted anime if you plan on returning to what you remember as 'reality.'

Dont patronize me. I appreciate Hendrix for the music he made but im not of the mould of "great guitar snobbery." The man could pluck strings on a piece of wood, it doesnt make him a great artist.

Plus, most people are musical fools. Britney Spears has 3 gold albums and you tell me i cant appreciate music like most people. Id much rather be a minority in situations like that.

I don't think he sounded like a good singer. Don't get me wrong, I have a whole bunch of his records and a few of his CDs. He was one of the greatest musicians of the 60's, if not all time. But a blues singer? I'm sorry, but I just don't buy that.
